So, I've decided: I am stopping playing the game.
...
It's only temporary!
...
But...
The Jaques journey was always meant to be significant, I could see that - and I started my journey before the CGs began (or at least, before I was aware of them).
I have no issue with that, even had I failed at one or the other of the CGs, I agree with many others on this issue that seeking out information on these (not least of which being the current status of the CG) is of paramount importance, and should be investigated thoroughly before you leave dock for the stars. You can't blame a game that presents a challenge simply because you didn't prepare properly (in my view, and in spite of some bits of the game that don't necessarily give you a proper chance to do that - this did, so no argument there).
Still...
Jaques has now been repaired. Okay, so it takes a while to update the systems...
But it's clear that Frontier want many of us to stay permanently in the station's current locale, and indeed that was my intimation when I set out for the station (it has since been clearly demonstrated to be the case).
So... Why is there no exploration CG? Or at the very least, for those of us who planned accordingly and explored much on our way to that end - why, after repair, is the Exploration feature not yet enabled?
I am not saying this out of greed (though I am certain to make a lot of cash on my exploits) or even for reasons of rank. But simply because, knowing what I discovered on the way is worth a LOT... I am now utterly reluctant to play the game.
Don't misunderstand, I always intended to stay in this system when I left - I still pop in occasionally and contribute to the other CG, the establishment of a local base - but I do so only when I'm certain that the psychopaths are not around, and this in spite of me wanting to play the game more.
In my view, asking players to make a new, distant and permanent base without providing an incentive to offset risk is... a little dumb.
Surely this whole incentive was planned weeks if not months ahead of time at FDEV? Why would they not give a reason for those who made the trip to not only stay, but thrive in the game (actual challenge should still be present, but currently if whether it is or not, I am put off taking part because of my data).
I expect either nothing, or a s**t-storm in reply to this - but this is basic game design... isn't it? Reward those who take the greatest risks (though it should never be "easy").
I'm sure Frontier will update soon, but not making it an automatic part of the CG completion plan has created a perverse situation where some of us (very long term, KS funder here) players are actually given a reason not to play the game. How does that make any sense?
Am I alone in feeling this way?
