So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

There's only four Eafots CO-R systems and the one closest to the RR-Line is Eafots CO-R B46-0, a red dwarf. Eafots CO-R C5-0 (G class star) is closer to and above the H&S nebula and possibly more difficult to reach than the others. Dang, I need an alter ego permanently parked in the Rift!

I like your take on the CO-R systems. But as others have stated, I've kinda drifted away from the RR line as being pinpoint accuracy and look at it more as a big general arrow. Could you do me a favor and list the other CO-R systems that you've found? (If you don't mind.)

I feel like getting these system names out there in this thread will help commanders such as myself who are literally out there and can easily move towards objects of interest and investigate further. As it is now, the only thing most of us have are vague hypothesis formed from poorly interpreted clues that may or may not lead to anything. Other leads and lines of inquiry are always appreciated.

Only 14 jumps and 545 LY to Eafots CO-R C5-0...

...13...

EDIT: Annnnd... here.

Nothing special, I'm afraid. Large system, previously scanned.

I find it interesting when its implied it can only be found by the "right player" and since its been confirmed no rank is required... That might leave ships open. And since the latest galnet articles states the mysterious CMDR piloted a Cobra mk3.... well just a hunch, but maybe if u head over in a cobra you could .. *attract attention?*

Oh man that would suck

I'm pretty sure when Drew said 'eyes on the skies' he was simply referring to be on the look out for Galnet info, not to look up. Really, everything is the sky in space so 'eye on the skies' would just be keeping a look out around you. Basically, he was saying 'heads up, more stuff coming "soon."'

A posted a couple of days ago, I confirmed with Drew that the "who" is a personality type, not an in-game thing. Your loadout isn't relevant apart from you'll need basic exploration equipment (whether that means it has to be scanned, or you need a ship capable of surviving outside the bubble is open to debate).

"you can see the galaxy just hanging there"

Drew did say to look to the skies. That's a way to get that view. Me personally I am going through the heart and soul and up at an angle.

I tell you what, if this just lands up to be the Lemon Slice nebulae I'm going to be narked.

Altera's Eye would be an awesome name. As for naming POIs after commanders, its not something the mapping team are keen to do these days (too many cans of worms can be opened with that policy!) :D

Submitted

For anyone else interested, here is as shot of looking out to the Heart and Soul past Altera's Eye.

Another difficulty is where to be to see the image. What Drew might have had a few stars moved for and stands out as a wonderful image from the ideal spot can look like a random pattern in the next system. You need to be in exactly the right place to see the pattern and it needs to be so distinct as to warrant trying to follow it, because 'star arrows' are such a common occurrence that we - by necessity - routinely ignore them, knowing them to be false imagery.
Some are clearer than others...

Actually, that's not what he said at all.

Definitely down to the player, not the loadout. However you'll need basic exploration equipment as a minimum. :)

This just says it's not loadout, nothing at all about 'personality', ie. a player who meets the criteria for finding the IT will be be able to find IT regardless of what ship they're flying.

Let's hope that the required personality is not an obsessive compulsive who needs to do three eyeball-orbits of every body in every system he passes through. :D

Eafots CO-R B18-0 (T Tauri) out in the Rift near the H&S
Eafots CO-R B47-0 (Red Dwarf) between H&S and the RR-Line but still in the arm

Both are not really hard to reach. C5-0 has been visited by several people according to EDSM (3 have passed in the past 3 days). So probably nothing *obvious* there. I still like that system somehow...

I'm more interested in the giant CD floating in space :D

That CD may actually be the key to seeing the rest of the image. This nebula is a reflective nebula. Meaning that it does not generate its own luminescence. Depending on where that CD is, the nebula changes color from red to yellow to green, green being the best for viewing the images in the cloud.
Edit: Green as in; a key of sorts, green.

Well, restlessness and curiosity have gotten the better of me. I'm leaving the search of EAFOTS to the professionals and heading out past the Heart and Soul nebulae and into the rift itself. Not particularly planning on following any of the established crossing points, just going to see how far I can get, 48.8Ly (52ly on fumes) should be enough to get me somewhere interesting :)

I doubt I'll find anything relating to the mystery but you never know...

Took a long nap and reporting in again...with a clearer mind I hope;)

As for personality, wasn't that those words about Patience, Wanderer mind and stuff? Finding the right path in this area takes all of it.
