A lazy boys guide to travelling to jumping home from Jaques

Does this sound like you? "I rather enjoyed the trip out to Jaques, but I've done my fair share of the mining CG and it's time to go home. Thing is, I hate the return leg of exploration trips and want it to be over as soon as possible."

Well, that's how I felt so I just teleported back to the bubble!

Now all services are online at Jaques I sold all my exploration data, then sold all my ship modules, bought a Sidey, sold my Asp, launched and hit self destruct. I then picked the free sidewinder option on the insurance screen and it teleported back to LHS 3447 with all my money, experience and even my contribution to the mining CG intact! I'm now sat back at my home system, back in my Clipper, ready to have some fun! All it cost me was 32,000c, the cost of selling my Asp hull and a class 4 FSD upgrade. Bargain!

I know I'm a bad Cmdr but I don't care, I just saved 22kly worth of jump honk!

Nothing wrong with that :)

He said "he" is back.
Me thinks "he" has been replaced by something that looks like "him" but is in fact .. the Astronaut's wife knows the answer.
Don't trust "him".
Or Jaques.

The plot is thickening ...

I'm not sure I want to park my engineered cutter at Jaques. I've grown attached to it. Then again, I guess I could just buy another one.

I'd parked my T-9 170ly from Jacques 4 days ago. It's been sitting there while I pondered whether to travel back, blow it up and freewinder, reset my save, or park at Jacques and see what FD is herding us all into.

For now, I'm going back to Jacques to sell the UC data.

With your mining CG intact you still need to come back to receive your salary, no? Your "trick" only works in one direction, unfortunately. ;)

But thanks for the heads up. Selling exploration data at Jacques, that is wonderful!

Everything seems to happen exactly the way I predicted. I had a hard time to decide for instance if I take mining equipment to Jaques or not (I did not and trusted to get some once the services are open again). I wanted to stay here for a while to help with colonization. Seems we could need more miners here (the numbers were slightly shrinking) and with the current slow pace I doubt we would even reach Tier 6...

Pretty sure if you don't collect a CG payout at station you still get it credited after a couple of weeks or a month or something. As for staying to help with the mining, I've handed in 240t of Osmium all mined rather slowly in my ex-Asp, I feel I've done my bit for now, might come back to Jaques in the future if events make it feel worth the trip out again.

Reps! I was getting ready to ask about Jaques. I'm much closer to it than the bubble and have tons of cart data.
Bonus for the quick trip home.

This is not a bad shout. I think I'll lose out on about 15m from the cost of selling my ship (which is all I made coming out here), but it would get me back rather sharpish...

Thats quite interesting idea...

... but the problem is for me at least that i have done a LOT of work to get module upgrades (G5 FSD, G3 thrusters and G3 shields) to my T-9, no way im selling that ship.
Besides, shes my special lady, the one ive had great ventures in the bubble trading, running away from pirates, showing her the world and now, making the whole journey to Jaques. I rather leave her to Jaques than sell her..

But, as i could never my trusted fat cow behind, i will make my way back the old fashion way, as it was meant. ;)

Absolutely no way! lol.

Only got the one engineer (FSD) upgrade on it but I'd rather spend 10hrs flying back to the bubble than sacrifice her.

Might be tempted to leave it at Jaques and sacrifice a sidey though...

This is a great idea, +1

No mods on anything for me so easy,
So I can finish my trip out and hang out for a bit and if I not much is going on, back to the bubble in an instant :)

Correct, after 2 weeks if you have not gone back to collect your CG reward ...it will be auto credited to your account. I have experienced this 3 times so far & it works :)
The Community Goal Guide (expand & read the "Rewards" section in post#1):

Back at Jacks. Sold about 35 pages of data, 13M in credits and went from Surveyor 15% to Pathfinder 69%. Noice! Lots of first discoveries.

This sounds like a bug. Since the last station you docked at was Jaques, that's really where you should have re-spawned. Maybe the current unique nature (and temporary name change) of Jaques is preventing this from working. Either way I wouldn't expect this workaround to continue to function once the "second bubble" is established.

(I predict much "emergent gameplay" when this happens; people waiting for explorers returning to the old bubble via the new and killing them, thus wiping out some of their exploration profits and sending them 22,000 light years away. Expect a few tears).

Not necessarily a bug, but a choice to use the option of respawn going to the starter system with a free starter sidewinder.

Normaly this would mean that you lose you nice/expensive ship completely...but this is being avoided by docking your "nice/expensive" ship...buying a cheap sidewinder.

Then you self destruct your sidewinder & at the rebuy screen take the option to start back in a starter sidewinder at the starter system....with only a small credit loss.

and then ... ? When you ever come back to Jaques, you will have to decide between the parked T9 and your current ship. If you want to keep it, there's no way not taking it back to the bubble.
