Oh yes, very true. I believe the new hint towards EAFOTS, combined with Heart&Soul was meant to narrow it down. But it narrows down the width of the course, not how far we need to go I believe (let alone up or down.. man space is big). But on that particular subject I agree with Colonel Kenney; "plot a course across" to me means it is definitely beyond
the EAFOTS sector. But is it in the Rift or on the other side.. that's the big question to me atm.
As far as clues go, this one to me was the most clear-cut yet. A transmission constantly repeating EAFOTS, that's kinda unambiguous I think
You've all seen Drew's blog post from earlier today?
http://www.drewwagar.com/progress-report/tionisla-a-little-background/
I ran the link video file through a morse converter and it came out with the following:
OTSEAFOTSEETFOTITT T ETITETT TMTS E TTETNATTTI E TITEMT T E T ET RTMTE E T E M TTT TTTI EI E TEROTSEA *fades out to silence*
Which seems to be a carry on from the message left at Tionisla: OTSEAFOTSEAF except for the two underlined letters (my underlining).
I could see if anyone had converted it yet, so thought I would add it to the thread.
Having been the one who made the video I can confirm that the only audio hidden in the morse code is OTSEAFOTSEAF .
If you are finding anything else then it is likely that you are deciding with software that isn't quite hearing it right. Note that the first and last 5 seconds of the video fade in/out.
The rift is the subject at hand so it makes me think it is in the rift but the lady said ACROSS ... so it makes me think the other side.
Sigh.. where to go.
Doesn't that make you in the least bit suspicious?
the confusion lies in the two accounts by the old woman. When she's much older she's saying that she only got as far as the rift and that nobody had lived to tell the tale about what's beyond it. Then her younger recording says you need to plot a course across it.
So all 3 options are possible but it seems more likely it's on the other side of the rift or deep in it. if it was on the core-ward side, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to even bring up the formadine rift - instead the old lady would bring up maybe the heart and soul nebula etc.
Not really. Seeing as we're having enough trouble pushing the story forward as it is, I find it hard to believe they would try to stear us in the wrong direction on purpose at this particular moment.
Well, it's another assumption, but I really think that wasn't deliberate. Let's be frank: to us, this whole Rifting thing is one of the most engaging things in the game. But there are plenty of other storylines -let alone patches, ongoing development, you name it- to attend to. They've got their hands full with everything, and I really think this story has just been sotting on the backburner for a while.
Well, we just got a clue that originated from Tionisla. And it's sending us towards EAFOTS or beyond. Now with the next big patch the actual Tionisla graveyard will be added, so perhaps another clue might come from there, but wouldn't that be kind of backtracking story-wise? I mean, they already sent us to EAFOTS.
At the moment I'm inclined to assume Tionisla has served it's purpose regarding this particular story.
I might be completely wrong though of course, because you know what they say about assumptions...![]()
@Drew Carnegie; Yep. To be honest, I'd rather have them leaving the story alone for a while then just pushing hints out to 'get it over with'. That last 'Rift-hiatus' gave me time to grind some engineering-FSD upgrades so I'm not complaining.
But if I put myself in their shoes it seems really difficult to find a way of making the story progress without handing out free clues too much. Hard task to balance that I think.
Anyway, I put my Asp down for the night. See you all later this weekend. O7.
Just had a wild stab in the dark.
Took the letters that appear in heart and soul out of Eafots that left me with F.
Tried clicking through the stars Eafots F... on the Galaxy map.
Nothing jumped out at me.
See that's the thing though, people are only assuming that "OTSEAFOTSEAF" is pointing them to EAFOTS. Please correct me if I'm wrong but that to me is just a guess of what the code could be. It can not and should not be stated as fact until it is proven to be correct and as of writing this post no one has done that yet, as far as I am aware.
That is why I believe there may be something to find still in Tionisla. Maybe even a way to help make certain what the code means Perhaps the "Old Worlds" region of space is relevant in this story? Just a thought I had when I noticed the system description for Tionisla -
https://account.xbox.com/en-us/scre...lve&scid=764b0100-8a71-477f-9136-941262e969ad
Have a read of how the systems where set up back in the old days -

I will be having a little look myself, maybe I will find one of those shy orange lizards or a talking cat!![]()
In all seriousness though, wouldn't it be easier to search these old world systems from top to bottom, starting with Tionisla, to be able to discount them entirely if nothing is there? As opposed to searching a whole sector like EAFOTS?
I am certainly not saying to stop the search out in EAFOTS because I cant say for a fact if that isn't what the message is saying. I am simply suggesting if their were others like myself not entirely convinced that is the direction to go then a good place (in my opinion) to look for more clues would be in Tionisla. Then again both avenues could be correct, and EAFOTS is the way to go, but perhaps there is more to find in Tionisla as well that can narrow the search down further.
As always, I may be wrong
Fly safe o7
There is more to giving out ANY info on a regular basis than just spoon feeding clues. The problem with "mysteries" that run long in games like this is player attention span and player retention. I would prefer MORE mysteries in the Eworld than less. And let's be fair, the storyline has moved at what best can be described as a glacial pace so far.
But if none of those mysteries resolve, then it gets frustrating. I'm a pretty hard core player, I don't get frustrated from stuff like this. Buuut, a player who averages 20-30 hours a week does NOT represent a games typical player base.
You're absolutely right about the glacial pace. But for those more typical players, there are many other things to do besides trying to solve this riddle.
For certain periods I also don't have a lot of time to play, but then I do other stuff. Some bounty hunting, some PP, some missions or trading.
There's enough to do for everyone, but mysteries/stories like these shouldn't be rushed because some players might not have enough time to keep up. LIke I said, there's plenty of other stuff to do. It's impossible to get every player involved in every part of the game. And there's nothing wrong with that imo.
