MB said barnacles were engineered off of an earlier lifeform species thing. What if the barnacles were created from thargoid dna so the federation and others in the know could develop thargoid technology by growing the technology and/or the materials to make it?

The UA and UP might not be thargoid at all. We might be seeing another alien species who knows about the thargoids and are wondering why thargoid technology is appearing again. So they sent out probes to find it and where it came from. Origin of UAs was around the Pleiades barnacle clusters and moved outward. Finding nothing concrete, so far, the more advanced probe came along. Something that reacts to a pulse seen from thargoid ships.

By pushing our tech closer towards thargoidishness, we may trigger the probe/artifacts thargoid detection meter and start something...

What would have been the harm in letting us know this when the game launched?

The statement implies a lot of theory, one of them being ECMs coming from thargoid tech. Get your tinfoil hats on, how many other things have been based on thargoid tech? (Maybe crazy scanners able to identify things from infinite distances away)

And the results? Inconclusive. The research team’s results clearly state that no known human technology could have created the relics, yet they do not quite align with known Thargoid materials. Whatever they are, they are indeed very old, with isotopic dating indicating that they could well be tens of thousands of years old.

Thargoids are doing the same to fix their drives, will use meta alloys instead of plastic polymers!

Be crazy if the UA were remnants of, or adapatations of the old bioweapon we used on the 'goids and damage our tech because all these years later we have reverse engineered loads of 'goid kit into our stations and ships, explaining why the UAs corrode our craft and cause station malfunctions and the meta alloys/barnacles are the engineererd thargoid/alliance attempt to cure it/themselves.

Not seen this reported but it appears the Federation have claimed yet another barnacle system as they are in pleides sector jc-u b3-2, there is a capital class beacon but no ship spawning so I went to the planet and the FNS O'Brien is guarding a barnacle site

Out at Jaques, but was strongly considering to come back to Merope just to try to balance out the CG's so neither the Feds or Imps get her.

Problem is there's still 2 outcomes, the alliance cleans up the mess or the system is left alone, only one of which I'm OK with...
