Has anyone tested dropping a UA/UP near one to see if they interact with it? I could see a variety of experiments that could be held at a nav beacon
Lord Zoltan, you mentioning aliens and avoiding conflict. Last night on Kerrash Landings stream i mentioned that the thargoids might arrive with no weapons and his response was quote "They won't need weapons" (in stream at 1hour 20 mins onto 1 hour 23 mins. his video is on youtube)

You might be right, but in the video you don't hear the broadcast but you do hear the UP purring post-broadcast when outside, which seems a bit odd. Some UP sound but not all.
But there's also the lack of doppler effect, which I suppose again you could argue not to read too much into.
There's also the question of how you hear the broadcast if your ship is disabled.
But yeah it's really difficult to draw any sure conclusions
Yes equipped and active, no to firing the ECM. I have one equipped with the specific intention to try it but given ECMs destroy missiles I'm a bit reluctant to give it a go.

I spose another question, has any attempt been made to decode the UP's head flashes during the broadcast?

No really: everyone here who's had a UP seems to fall foul of either scooping bugs or has the well known scientists' curse of chocolate wrists, fingers of butter and fists of ham

Potentially... although I think perhaps part of the reason they don't really need weps is because as the kinds of speeds the ships could fly at - they could probably just ram us to death; with meta-alloy hull reinforcements or something!
Could this make retrieval from the convoy easier? Honk the Python before you engage which primes the EMP, take down shields, move out of range and deploy hatch-breakers, when the probe is ejected EMP fires and disables convoy ships, grab probe and run.

I know it's a pedantic nuance but what about trying to fire it when your systems are down?
Honk at it, with your ECM ready on a trigger, then just after you get the shockwave, ECM it.
I would guess that without the ships systems working, firing anything may be difficult.
Yep, was thinking something similar, but had a few questions beforehand
- what is the max range in which honking an UA activates an UP ? Or is it even systemwide?
- *tinfoil on* maybe FDev with this combination UA activating, UP EMP, gives the Imperium (or any other faction interested for what its worth) a tactical advantage to use in the current conflict ? If we/they don´t intercept the convoys for "emm" obtaining the UPs but to fuse them, in a reasonable short time a lot of Federal Captial Ships/Lab/Military Posts/Stations? should be out of order.... *tinfoil off*

In that case the UAs would just be swarming scouts collecting overall data (and maybe like spores later settle to form Barncles if they find a Body suitable?), UP´s might be a form of chrysalis which under the correct circumstances, enough Barnacles around with Meta-alloys, either hatches as Thargoid-Queen or acts as (given the size of Thargoid Ships) "Nano-Robot" starting building a Tharoid Mothership if resources available?

That's actually quite close. Good enough to put 'drop and honk' next to a nav beacon on the to do list.
Depends on whether or not entire control is lost or if just the HUD is disabled.

Ah yes, my old stomping ground.
Between that and the other recent report, hopefully that's proof enough that spawn locations for convoys are just random.
