So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

Got it! Months of research, but I got it! The only suspicious system we have to scout!!

Attention hot-blooded people, this is humour, not politics. I don't care about Trump or anyone. I'm using its well-accepted public image (I actually never read or heard a word from him).

With everyone screaming "Shut up and take my money", I would laugh my socks off it it was a scam.

"We need to get rich!"
"Well, let's make a start-up company and say we have a new FTl drive that will half travel times. Commanders will come running with millions, we give ourselves huge salaries, squirrel away the research money, then after six months, claim that it was either a bust, or that some secret Fed types came and took our research data and closed us down."

Imagine the sheer wrath this would incur, though!

Alternatively... military hyperdrives might be good for the game: Increased range to keep the combat jocks who don't like travelling to conflict zones happier, yet entirely useless for exploration, due to specialised fuel. Make them cost ten times the price of a normal drive with expensive fuel too and it would act as a decent way to get some cash out of the player's hands.

It was exactly like that in Elite: Frontier and in F:FE ... You had standard hydrogen fuelled drive which used cheap scoopable fuel and lighter smaller military drives that used more expensive military grade fuel that you could only buy on stations ans which produced radioactive waste. Also it wasn't available in bigger sizes so it only really worked on fighters/smaller ships.

Maybe FD plans something similar, I agree that with good balancing, it might help combat builds.

_Gad. Lads and Lassies.

Its so long ago. I remember when I was Four years old. My little sister was too small, and my brother went to the big school.

So, day after day I went out with my dad in the boat. We didn't have much money, and all the pay came from the fish we caught.

I remember being crunched up in the side of the boat keeping warm and my ol man saying "Keep your bloody eye out for the stars" Simply because we were so close to the rocks.

I did so, and we never hit the rocks. But I do wonder...

It has always been about working with the eye. Is there something that we have missed?

In Drew's AMA on reddit I think this hint is key, based on this you can see it from a distance. For my search, every few hundred LYs, I fly far from the sun to get clear into the black and look around for.... something. I'm thinking a strange cloud, flashing lights, some kind of structure in the distance (aka. Dyson Sphere).

"Certainly there will be markers that are visible, but not everything is. By searching in the fashion you have been, you may already have seen some aspects of it."

Wow! That is a massive clue right there and very very interesting!!!

Is this "thing" really really massive?

Is this along the lines of the "aliens put the artificial moon into orbit round earth" conspiracy theory, but on a larger scale with stars, planets, nebulae involved?

Are these just ridiculously large spacecraft, including but not limited to, generation ships/AI and all that malarkey?

Have I covered all the bases? Yes, yes I think I have! :D

So much awesomeness! Clues, Galnet posts, Drews new book (intertwined with realtime developments in-game. How         cool is that?) Seems this story is really kicking off now. Marvelous!

I mentioned this before but got very little interest. Here goes again. If you go to the darks use of Merope 5C and look at the nebula you can make out images that correspond to Rebecca's memories. There's a small cat in the center that is pointing it's nose at a star. If you jump to that star you'll be on the backside of the nebula and if you go into the shadow of another planet and look you can see "a dark haired man and a brown haired woman, and more images she mentions. Call me crazy or say that I have Pareidoli, you wouldn't be the first. Just listen to Drews clue mentioned above. Look for yourselves. These mysteries aren't as separate as we thought.

I can categorically state that if solving the Rift mystery means looking for pictures in the sky, then will NOT be the one to solve it.

I'm going space crazy and now seeing shapes that aren't there. doesn't this look like a face side on though

http://imgur.com/SGqvn62

Slight resemblance to a face yes BUT that's not how the images I'm talking about are portrayed. In Merope the images in the nebula are made by different coloration of the clouds. Green coloration seems best to see the images, the problem is the lighting makes a huge difference. I've been monitoring it on and off for the passed week or so and its slowly turning more green. Meaning more of the images will become visible. If it was nothing then why have the skybox change colors?

Now i dont quite understand what your saying, but will swing by Merope on the way home to see. But i can't help feeling if all we are going to find out here is a picture of a bunny in the nebula, then some of us will be kinda annoyed as we have been led 7.5K LY out of the bubble down to the story the old woman gave of something that is out here, that is "trouble" more trouble possibly than the Thargoids. Now this is fine but i am unsure how shapes and pictures, no matter how amazing they are, could ever be much trouble, unless of course it is a signed confession for the Kennedy assassination :D

Do you really believe the Feds and Imps are fighting over barnacles there? Perhaps they're both trying to cover up the truth.

Whatever this is is enormous.

It is likely that it is either some sort of evidence of intelligent design on a galactic scale, whole solar systems and nebulae forming an arranged and obvious visual anomaly. One that stands out from the normal visual noise of the galaxy...or a structure (alien, or otherwise) that spans huge stretches of space, such that it can be seen when we look back and see sections silhouetted against the background light.

Don't let people put you off looking. As Drew himself said, it all depends on who goes looking and that is determined by how they search in their own individual way.

My mind is blown by that last hint Drew gave.

So you are suggesting they are fighting over the system as it has great views? :D

Somewhat, yes. It's either they're fighting there because of the view because it has a significant message OR they're fighting over something else in Rebecca's memory "a dark green hued ship, almost silhouetted against the stars". Like I said though the lighting plays a large role. If you go at the wrong time the images are very hard to make out. The more green it is the better from what I've seen.

I always assumed it was because of the meta alloys, and the fear that someone would turn the unknown artifacts into a weapon to damage stations/star ports, and the only known cure for it being from the barnacles, the meta alloys. Of course I have been known to be confused by the press.

If you've been told that there is a massive coverup being perpetrated by both the Feds and the Imps, why would you believe their stated motivations?
