How much vRAM? Is 6gb "too much"?

I have a GTX 780 with 3gb vRAM, and got an offer from EVGA to upgrade the card through their step-up program to the new GTX 780 with 6gb vRAM.

Would this upgrade be worthwhile, or is there really not much real world benefit for this?

I don't think this would make much difference to the performance of Elite would it?

Old article, but the principles still apply, hope this helps.

Basically, the more graphics memory you have, the higher quality/resolution you can run stuff at, but there are other important things to take into account.

Honestly I don't think you'll see any benefit currently. Unless you are doing other things at the same time as running Elite.

That depends. This offer consists of what? A big reduction on the upgrade?

I have to pay the difference between what I originally paid, and the price of the new card. Meaning it would cost me £60 to upgrade.

But the new 780 have other thing than the Vram. For example, more than fine engraving, more frequency etc ... ?

It's the exact same card, just with an additional 3gb RAM.

It's an easy choice to get it if you can sell your current card for a few quid.
Or do you have to exchange it?

It's a simple exchange.

EVGA allow you to upgrade your card within 90 days of purchase. You simply pay the difference.

This allows you to buy a new card without worrying too much about new releases, because you can easily trade them in.

You only need that kind of memory if you're running a 4k monitor or you're doing non gamey stuff like GPU rendering.
edit: or something similar, like 3 x 1440p triple buffered with AA I guess.
