So, kitted up an Eagle for combat with pulse lasers and took it into the local High Intensity CZ.

What a hoot! She's actually so nimble that even with no pips to ENG I had trouble at times slowing her down to keep her on target. She did great, but in the end I made a bad decision and took on a Cobra III who was otherwise unoccupied. He turned on me took me out with rails or PAs while I was trying to high-tail it out of there.

Great time though. Heading back in. Here's a shot of us waiting on the platform for the next sortie...

But so fragile! Make a bad decision and your goose can be cooked like that!

Love it.
Which is why it is my preferred 'fun' combat ship. I have one with grade 5 diry drives, 2 fixed light weight modded pulse lasers with the malfunction special, a fixed light weight frag cannon on top with drag ammo special, and a decent grade 3 charge power distributor and it is a blast. It can kill elite Anacondas pretty easy due to the drag ammo and keeps malfunctions going while shields are down. Get in close and target drives and weapons with the frag cannon when I get the chance.

I can't wait to get this thing modded up, but I have to load back up on mats.

I love the eagle, but am currently flying a cobra mkIII for combat, it's nimble, fast, and packs a bit of a punch with the medium seeker missiles I put on it. Have two modded pulse lasers in the small slots. She can't take too much fire, and I haven't had much luck taking out the bigger ships, but she's cheap insurance-wise, so I don't mind getting blown up.

My Cobra III is a similar setup, but with class-I extended mag seekers underneath, and modded mix of Class I/II gimbaled burst lasers in front.

It's an excellent combat ship, I agree. Today, I'm flying the Eagle for fun... Cap ship keeps stealing my kills anyway :)

Not a big fan of the Eagle MK II. Not enough firepower or hull strength for my liking. Even if you can stay behind them, they'll pop an SCB before the shields even think about coming down lol.

I love my Imperial Eagle though. Not a heavy hitter by any means, but that medium hardpoint seems to make a difference. With military armor and some HRPs, it holds up surprisingly well in CZs.

Does the iEagle require any rank?

Yea master or something i think.

I love my ieagle! I put a med plasma on the roof with target lock breaker. Stops those pesky turrets nice and good. But there is a notable drop in pitch speed fron the mk2

Hmm... OK, I'm going to take a break and go check it out.

Yeah, it isn't quite as maneuverable, but it sure makes up for it with speed. That thing is fast. Even better with modded thrusters from Farseer.

I run a medium beam and two small MCs.

Yea w8 untill you go see palin with one i have a ieagle that cruses at about 500ms and boosts over 600ms its all good untill you hit something lol

I enjoy my 820m/s max boost canyon running Imperial Eagle quite a bit. Most fun I've had with ED in a while. I think I'll have to try the regular Eagle some time.

Man, great shot! Drunken ship selling is a particular fear of mine :)

Thanks, it was the availability of the ship customisation kits that inspired me to add one back to my fleet. I also discovered an interesting "is it a bug or is it a feature?" as I bought the jungle camo paint job for it as well (the plan was to have an Eagle looking the business for atmospheric planetary landings) but the customisation kit enhancements are all in pale blue. I should really raise it with Frontier at some point.

Drunkenly I have sold an Eagle, an iEagle and I'm pretty sure my Cobra (which I immediately replaced). I have stopped drinking and flying now ;)
