I'm not allowed to go on the Jaunt to Jacques expedition because of my player group, so here's some tips for exploration

I follow these in my expeditions, hope these can be of use for you.

Make sure you take heat sinks, you may get sidetracked and head straight into a star, they come in handy

AFM's also come in handy too

4 pips to SYS when landing on planets, they make your shields 2.4x stronger and absorb some of that damage if you may happen to have an accident with the planets surface

wavescanner.net is your friend

Bring a wake scanner, 50 people jumping out of an instance at a waypoint yields you 150 data

Select systems that have multiple stars, if your plotted route intersects the binary, do not approach from that angle, you can risk jumping straight into the binary.

Have fun on the expedition! who knew weaponless couriers werent allowed

I demand you join anyway.

Select systems that have multiple stars, if your plotted route intersects the binary, do not approach from that angle, you can risk jumping straight into the binary.

Some extra on that: reduce galaxy map graphics to have it pop up as fast as possible (also speeds up jumps - background will be less pretty). Aim just above/below your destination system as you charge the jump (so you won't jump yet on full charge). Use the charge time to open the galaxy map and check if the next system has multiple stars (already selected by default with a route plotted - stars are listed at the top of the info panel to the left). If it does have more than one, zoom in and inspect (in realistic view). If you can spot all of them and they are decent distances apart (not touching each other), it's safe. If you cannot spot all of them or you can clearly see there are two right on the entry point you are jumping to, better plot a new course or you may risk jumping straight into a star (worse than landing between stars).

If it's safe you just close the map and pitch towards your destination. Most of the time this shouldn't take you longer than the charge itself takes.

edit: I used this to run the 22k ly entirely without heat sinks or AFM and arrived without damage.

I forgot to set the throttle to 0 when jumping and went to get a drink. Came back to my ship falling out of supercruise and taking damage. Pop a heatsink and jump away but now all systems took damage including the AFM which cannot repair itself! So now I always take 2 AFMs and just leave one turned off.

May I enquire as to why your player group prevents you from going?

SDC are not allowed to go under any circumstances

Despite showing them that i'm weaponless.. in a courier...
and others that have been on DWE are also not allowed to go

they also told us we were allowed to go so we blew a lot of money and time on exploration fits and last minute they removed us without reason (didn't tell us anything and ignored us completely). But hey, what can you do right?

Get involved in the jaques mega thread. Try to keep the open v solo and pvp talk to a miniumum its main focus is background sim, pve content and exploration. It is open to all freelancers and although we call ourselves the friends of jaques thats just a title not an actual group.

August Exodus, the formal event, has been denied to SDC members; truth.

However, both the IGER event and the Twin Candles event, haulage of Computer Components and Slaves respectively, were broadly invited to anyone that cared to participate. You can acquire both at Farmer Dock in Negasta.

Prove your membership in the community in spite of the naysayers.

I would leave that crappy player group telling you what to do and what not to do.

I think it's rather a case of the organisers of the August Exodus have said "thanks, but no thanks," isn't it?

I mean, these large expeditions involve private groups, which makes them invite only.

Cant say iam surprised, you reap what you sow.

People have to play in private groups to organise sometimes and inviting SDC into private groups would worry some people.

Couldn't you just go along anyway and sneak into the group? I heard you guys are good at group infiltration...

Could even make a video about it.... :x /s

Shame. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of people...

Not that I encourage crashing other people's parties, but is the Jacques expedition going as a private group or something? If not, then technically what's stopping you from following them to their destination?

So... private groups and player groups politics forum drama strikes again. I much prefer playing the actual game itself, though I may be a bit of an outlier.

I also don't bother with heat sinks nor field kits, but there seem to be many that do for some reason.

Good luck to all in your endeavors.

Sorry, Nia, but it's not that surprising that some playergroups don't want SDC members with them after all the stuff SDC pulled through. ^^

Of course there's always the possibility of flying along the expeditions route in Open :)

Oh well if the expedition is a private group then I don't know what the OP is complaining about then. I thought it was some issue of being told not to join a group in Open when there would technically be no way of anyone enforcing this. If someone is part of a group like SDC that has a reputation for going to great lengths just to ruin other players fun and they don't get invited to a private group because that private group doesn't want their fun ruined, well that just makes sense. In fact you could even argue it's a very predictable and foreseeable consequence of what SDC has been doing in the first place.

i've never infiltrated PG's, not my thing, you know this

No, they said we could go, one of the guys that wanted to go was on DWE and i offered to go weaponless courier and stream it, they said yes, until 30 minutes before the event, in which they never gave us an answer or anything

doesnt matter, if people have been on expeditions before, why cant they go now?

Aesop had something to say about this very situation.

Then they didn't let you into the PG.

It's so unfair, isn't it?

Keep stirring the pot.
