Quick question, what does this have to do with UP?.... out of curiousty and the decoded message which hasnt been fully done yet... just so that to avoid confusion over this gamecon video..

Probes and artifacts "Interfered" with the live stream and then when the "wrong" video got released it was done in the same fashion as the probes did
Seems its a hint to whats happening in a sense and it seems related to probes so :D

Does the UP Spectrogram now make sense or can it be decoded with the new system information? Ie 1 x star, 2 x Belts, 3 x Planets with rings?

Been a while since I've dropped in here. I'm 15 Kly out on the other side of the Formidine Rift and have been focusing on that mystery. A few thoughts:


  • It sucks when there is a breakthrough and you need to read through 40 pages of posts to get up to date
  • There are some very clever people posting on these threads
  • There are some very clever people working at FDEV
  • I might suggest that new threads are made when people agree a new, significant breakthrough is made. This allows for almost having shorter chapters for easier referencing
  • I think the latest Ammonia breakthroughs are one such cut off point (new thread!)

So, here's where we are with the UP transmission from Pleiades Sector KC-U B3-1 8 (target planet) as far as I can tell. The following has been converted to decimal numbers and assumes that the dolphin chirp sound is a division operator. Pauses are transcribed as commas. My comments are in parentheses.

BEGIN TRANSMISSION

WAIL, .979 (don't know what this is)
WAIL, 1, .612 (this is the ratio of target planet surface temp to Merope 5C surface temp)
WAIL, 2, 4.705 (ratio of target planet surface gravity to Merope 5C surface gravity)
WAIL, 3, 5.765 (ratio of target planet radius to Merope 5C radius)
WAIL, 4, 135, 5883.71 EDIT: 588.371 (thanks to CMDR Kloopy for pointing out this mistake), 82, 50.312, 136, .227 (don't know what this is either)

END TRANSMISSION

I think the last block of numbers must be some way of describing the direction and distance from Merope 5C to the target planet or system, but I haven't figured out how yet.

Ok using the information from the system and trying (forcing it) to fit the Spectrogram message

--1 = 1 Star
1-- = 4 moons
((-11 = 3 ringed planets
-1- = 2 belts

The Big sphere and (0 could mean its landable
The 2 angled lines = 2nd moon
The last internal angle no sure maybe it something time dependent like the sun/shadow on the moon?

Just some ideas.
