So gas giants with Ammonia life, then?

Easy way to check: Pleiades sector RO-Q B5-0 10 (confirmed UP system) has a gas giant with ammonia-based life in it, if someone could have a look would be great. Otherwise I'll do it tonight when I get home.

I just spent 20 minutes surveying the ammonia world in California Sector JC-V C2-2 near the nebula (thanks to Eisen or whoever posted the data, my bad for not writing down the name). No joy, I'll have another look at it tonight but not expecting to find anything. Also did 2 or 3 others on the way back from the rift, including one bordering Heart nebula, nothing there.
 
Ok, I'll repeat this thing, and won't probably do it again.

Having NO signals at all is just pure RNG luck. Degraded emissions seem to spawn everywhere. You can't rule out if a signal exists or not in a location based on time, you have to do it based on signals appearance.

If you don't even see a degraded emissions than it means you still haven't been granted by the gods of randomization, but that doesn't mean anything. Once you have 2 signals at least, you can start saying 'this other signal' doesn't spawn here, but still be wrong. Only after you have a few signals you can say 'this signal doesn't seem to spawn here' and feel confident about it.

Signal appearance can't be determined by time, specially when in all that time you don't have ANY signal at all. You should have at least degraded emission signals.

When I've been looking for a signal I always waited to have at least 2 different signal types, not just 2 different signals. In pleiades we are still close to the bubble, so you can at least have the following signals:
- distress calls
- emissions: encoded or degraded
- weapons fire

If you are not getting any signal that means bad rng luck. I have spent 2h on a giant ammonia with life based and didn't have any signal, but still persisted. After 2 more hours I had 4 signals, 3 different types. After 1 more hour I had 4 different signal types, which made me discard it from the -hot list-, and that is what I did with different body types in similar systems.

Michael, I'm feeling like challenging the Alpha here, but I really didn't get any results on anomalies in previous bodies before the ammonia world so, when you said: 'not just only ammonia worlds, but..' I'm thinking more about: they don't only appear in space -but also on the ground- and this is why NOT only ammonia worlds. I'm confident that I searched thoroughly orbits of different -ammonia related- body types and I only found them in ammonia worlds, so the other theory I'm considering is: in different systems -e.g. another nebulae- they could be in other system types.

Is it possible that it's the physical location that is the problem- that it's hard to get the exact spot pinned down, but once you do you can just loiter around at minimum SC and not leave the spot?

I'm trying to figure out how come some people get 3 or 4 in a very short period and some people can't get the first one

I'm there now and will check it, the scan says it is a gas giant with _water_ based life however.

I might add that I have also found Convoy Dispersal Patterns (Threat 1 i think was the last one) in
Pleiades Sector KC-U B3-1. Not near the ammonia world, but I have seen them there...
 
Found a neat place for a future Thargoid/Human settlement out in NGC 6357 founded by Spock himself.

I have added more planetary info in the UP Locator spreadsheet. Unfortunately I don't have the info for IR-W D-55, so if someone could add that as a comment, or share a screenshot of it, that would be great.

"Finally being made?" There's been regular breakthroughs for a year now.

I like the atmosphere for RO-Q B5-0. 92.1% Nitrogen + 7.9% Argon doesn't leave much room for oxygen in an "Ammonia and Oxygen" atmosphere :)

86.9% Nitrogen, 13% Argon, and is actually the exception with 0.2% Helium as well. The spreadsheets dont work on my phone sorry, hopefully that will help though. o7

Now I know roughly what I'm doing, here's a video of the full 5 and a half minute Merope broadcast (taken in debug cam) plus a bonus honk at the end for a free floating UP found at PLEIADES SECTOR IR-W D1-55 6

Hopefully that will let people figure out if the long transmission near the end (starts at around 4:42 in the video...full transmission starts around 30 second in) is different or the same as UPs found elsewhere.
 
So, if I'm understanding correctly, folks have made some progress interpreting these audio pulses as binary triplets, but when I listen to it I could swear I'm hearing more than two different tones. Are we just chalking that up to audio distortion or might this actually be a base-4 tonal system instead of base-2?

I was pretty sure that I'm hearing combinations of low, MEDIUM, and high notes in the triplets. The first and fifth notes are always the same - they don't sound like each other, but all the first notes sound the same, and all of the fifth notes sound the same. The notes in between, however, do sound like they are either low, medium, or high.
