Hi i have a few tip off's in my message box i have been trying to locate a crashed ship from the oldest tip off i have
On http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=746451921

Tucanae Sector HH-U B3-0 A 7 A
Lat 33.64 Lon -133.14

I have landed almost directly on the location & have driven arround for 30-60mins & not found the downed ship

I have compleated a few tip off in the past & normaly i find the crash site in a few mins

so is this a bugged tip off or am i doing it wrong

Do they decay?
I think so. I´ve collected quite a few. When I visited the newest (a few days old) and it was empty - no crash site at the coordinates.

They start appearing after you have become allied with a local faction, which naturally happens while grinding rank at HIP 10716/Wu Guinagi. I was wondering same thing about whether they decay, and it seems they do. I deleted oldest ones in my tab, and remaining one is a day or two old. I wonder how long it lasts?

Ta dude, so I am allied to lots of factions (my own included) but i have to become an ally to a new faction for them to turn up?

The tip-off itself, yea, maybe.

but if you remember the location and return there in a week or so, it's still there. You can tell others and they will also find it. I think these things are permanent. (at least the crash sites, I don't know whether there are other types of tip-off locations)

No, the crash sites are not permanent (maybe with some exceptions), they are kind of semi-persistent POI's and their existence lasts a couple of weeks (no exact data). I've checked this once having the same question in my mind - having to follow my own tip off and some others received by other commanders - some were present, some already disappeared.

Btw, here is a good thread to search for reports.

Hmm. To be honest I never tried returning to the place after weeks. Just a couple of days later. Interesting. Thanks for clarification and I apologize to Marcus for misleading him.

thank you every one!

I got my first ever tip-off earlier telling me to go to LP 798-44 system, and to check out LP 798-44 A1 planet for a crashed ship with loads of goodies.

I was 16 jumps away, approx 160/170 lyrs. I went straight there but could not find the ship anywhere.

The coords were, Lat: 42.51 : Long: 131.44. Took me a wee while but I did get to the exact coords but nowt there, plenty poi's around but just the usual stuff.

Mick. :)

Yeah, noticed they disappear after I went searching for a few (11) from back when I was rank grinding for my Corvette, gave up after the first 3 I visited didn't exist. Personally, I suspect Thargoids as I noticed all 3 'crash sites' had purple tinted rocks which weren't present on other locations on the planet :p

They appear after missions and will often be introduced to you in a message from that mission's giver. Just keep an eye on your in-box.

Originally they would eventually time-out and get removed from the in-box, but FD changed that and now they stay up there indefinitely unless they changed it again in .05? I haven't played since the last update. Anyway... Was never sure if the Tip-Off mission itself remained viable forever because I have never actually done one, despite having dozens of them all up and down my inbox.

The reason I don't do them is because the coordinates listed for planets was wrong for the longest time. Actually backwards, and that made these very difficult to locate. Too much work for me with my limited playtime.
