Character Creation Weight Question for FD

So far, all of the NPC portraits appear to be slim body types. My CMDR namesake, Ignatius J Reilly, is a fictional character from the John Kennedy Toole's phenomenal "Confederacy of Dunces." Ignatius is a notoriously obese character. When character creation is released, will I have the option to create an overweight player character avatar, or is everyone in the future skinny? It would certainly help with my immersion. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Someone should make a Myrna for your Ignatious...

The only thing i suspect we will get to change is the face, with a lot of short military style hairs to. Which will scupper my hopes of making some weird Avatars.

The future is reserved for super humans and their super computers. Obesity is a scourge left centuries behind from the year 3000 and whatever.

I'd imagine there would be some fitness requirements for a pilot. Modern fighter pilots need to be pretty fit to fly a plane that can pull up to 10Gs in a turn., even if they wear an anti-G suit.

I keep picturing the fat guy in the Death Star attack. Porkins?

Loved this! Just like the scourge of autopilot, food, water, toilets .... :p

Anyway, I, too, suspect head modification would come first even if we can't see our faces.
I'll be happy when I can look the part of a long-haired, Hodor-sized character with a grizzly beard.

The bridge of my ship is 50-60+ feet across (15-18m). I'm pretty sure you can land another ship in there! But...I can't widen the seat 4-6in. Is 15cm too much to ask? LOL And how about cupholders? Ah..forgot. No liquids. :p

Seriously, please?? Let me look down and see my massive torso!

I would make sense to be able to change body proportions as well, especially for VR.

While the brain is stupid enough, to believe that the shown body is actually me and the motions and positions of the virtual hands are feeling perfectly realistic - even if they are far off compared to their real world positions - the mind is not satisfied with those seen short virtual match sticks called arms and legs... While excessive use of nutriant space food jelly cube thingies might be punishable by death, being 6'4" and a little trained shouldnt be... I err hope... what do yo want with that gu....

I don't think we will have much in the way of weight sliders, if at all... but it could be funny if you could make CMDR Mr. Creosote....

Passenger seat might need to be a bucket though.

Mint wafer anyone?

I think they have shown off face because it is something they had to make it work for NPC avatars first. Although I am not that interested in fat pilots, it would be nice to have comprehensive avatar creation system to give variety :)

But then your jump range should decrease as well.

If you read the official Elite Dangerous Artbook, there's mention of the character creator with custom faces, not full body customization. :/

I hope we can adjust the weight of our characters. Cause not everyone has the same body-type.

OP it's just not possible. FDEV will have to adjust FSD range against the extra mass of a fat person. Wouldn't make a lot of difference to a cutter, but a sidewinder FSD jump could be reduced by 1/2 by an obese pilot.

:D

I am fairly sure we will only be able to alter the faces and hairstyles, and for the body only pick between a selection of (possibly cash shop only) colours.
