Ship delivery = Yay.
Instantaneous = Nay.

As someone that's limited on game time it is annoying to spend awhile getting to another ship then only having a few minutes spare, so ship delivery in this case is great. But it completely contradicts the game style to get it instantly, I'd like a time delay dependant on distance.

Ship Transfer : YES!!!
Instant Transfer : NO, just NO, no,no,no. Did I say No? It's just Silly.

Making the galaxy less believable with gamey mechanics is the wrong direction for me. Things have to make some kind of sense. So for example: if you can teleport a ship across light years of space, why are we carrying cargo about?

A realtime delay (jumprange + 1 hour preparation, pilot hiring etc) and a fee would be totally ok with me.

Maybe add a poll?

I would prefer if it would have a little time added. Not much, but maybe sort of 5k ly per hour so you don't have to wait long if your ship is maybe 300 ly away in other areas of bubble. I would be against longer waits (unless your ship is in the other side of galaxy). Buf it is is instant, then be it, it is not dealbreaker for me.

Hm, I was considering a poll, but, frankly a) I am not big fan of them, for numerous reasons b) it's the proper feedback and thoughts on this issue I think might make a difference. By the by -- thank you for yours! ;)

Instantaneous? Hopefully a placeholder at this stage. But you know FD: introduce something, then let it remain immersion breaking. <COUGH>Interdictions!!<COUGH> ;) :D

I think they've got this right. When I come home from work I don't want to spend the time doing Admin on my in game assets.. There's been times when all I've done in game was jump back to the bubble to get another ship and since the engineers it seems like that's all I'm doing in game. This means I can get my T9 back and fit it for exploring, especially with the addition of fighters awesome...

For balance though it makes credits more important again and will allow players to join in with more community events.... The only down side I can see is the Hauler taxi negating the limited jump ranges of the bigger ships. I'm already planning on fitting one ship out with good jump range and towing my corvette into systems... I think this was the reason for not implementing it todate..... OMG I've just talked myself into wanting a delay of a few days for the order to be carried out!!!

So why can't we store commodities??? Any thoughts on the in game impacts?

Transport - Yay
Instantaneous - Booh

Totally agree, the instant stuff are really a downer, too arcady and it opens a can of worms.
FDEV caved in for the instant crowd, give me now! well why can't we instantly teleport to a station, if ships can then I want that too!!!! (well not really)

My knee-jerk reaction is I'd prefer a bit of a delay, but actually I think on balance this might be an area I'd rather have game flow take precedence over verisimilitude. Sitting around waiting for a minute / an hour / whatever while I wait for the ship to be delivered that'll let me play the game the way I want to play it doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

So I'm kind of ambivalent. I'd definitely rather have instant transport than no transport at all, though.

Transportation - Yay!

Instantaneous - Booh - it should, in my opinion, take as long as it would take the ship to do it - and cost the CMDR a fee for the time of the NPC pilot that brought it and also fuel, repairs... For modules, it could be quicker and cheaper - but it would take the time that a ship capable of carrying the module in a module bay of the correct size would take - also including a transport fee.

Reason i mentioned making a poll is to persuade devs (inclusing Sandro) to change their mind. But i understand that polls can feel a little stale, and if there is good arguments they can better understand reasons change it.

This is a good point, what if you transport your ship to a system from which you cannot jump out due to range limits? How did it get there? What to do, go elsewhere and have it redelivered by magic.

urgh, Ship transport is great but that we can just teleport ship to stations is silly as hell. Why in the World do I even need to fly to stations in the first place if we can just teleport ships around?

Not sure why they don't use the npc crew for that, tell one of your npc mates to fly a ship somewhere and it takes about as long as it should for a ship to go there.

Transport/transfer for ships & modules is desperately needed and welcomed.

Instant transfer is debatable. People will scream immersion breaking and unrealistic but at the same time it is a game and not real life, having too many real life game mechanics will impede gameplay and enjoyment more often than not, as proven time and again in almost every game release. This is something that players need to understand. I know that some players go through a life and death struggle to understand this, i sympathize with you but gaming is NOT real life, even with VR. That being said a balance is appreciated, a compromise, maybe a 1 minute wait for every 10ly distance travel.

Based on some of the comments here, it seems people are going to sit around and wait for the transfer. You know it's not illegal to do other things while 'waiting'...Like trading, exploring, fighting, taking missions and so on.

Instant - booo .. noway it should be instant. It should be delayed and the time should reflect the distance for sure. :(
