My SOTHIS report - Updated every hour (or not)

successfully killing player motivation to log in. Trolls will be trolls.

Putting them on ignore is a great feature the forum offers.
It saves me so much aggravation.
Never done a Sothis run, so it is not personally affecting me at all, but I am disgusted by people with such attitudes.

From a game mechanic standpoint the current implementation of UA bombing makes no sense at all.
Not even the black market would accept these things knowing that they would sabotage the very station their living depends upon.

FD really needs to overhaul this UA mechanic.
It was fine in the beginning, but the sim should react to it differently now everybody knows what these things do.

Lol... It's the mentality that team-kills in games/modes that allow it; or scores goals against their own team (yay rocket league!).

The question is... Not enough hugs from mommy and daddy?

or too many?

Hi Folks,

Just arrived at Sothis. Still fully working. I'm going to report my MILLION credits load here after (oh nooooooo) switching to Open/Solo/Private to get more out of the gold mine.

30. mio. credits stacked transport missions so far. Aiming for around 80 before going back to the bubble.

UA BOMB my butt!

Hey thanks for the tip. I got nothing else to do today so i think ill give my newly modded fsd a long range test run. Want to take a look at ceos too, i have never seen a UA bombed station.

How motivated to play can they be to begin with if it is Sothis or nothing.
No other game play appeal?
No other long range mission system cluster worth while?

If there was a Game that simply was Sothis runs and nothing else, would they play that?

Well... guess I won't be logging in for a while again. These kids need to grow the heck up. I enjoy doing expensive things in the game so they are, literally, destroying my gaming experience. I'd bet good money that they're hiding behind solo too.

i don't wish to sound mercenary here: But is there a profit to be made by delivering MAs to such places?
No - but you get to annoy people!
And if you're rich, board and lacking in moral character, that's almost the same thing!

At least they're evidently being honest about being childish trolls now. The initial excuse had been "oh but players won't get to experience the game how it's supposed to be played, and we're doing it for their own good and blahblahblah".

It's still immature, selfish, and anti-social behaviour for no good reason, but at least they're owning it now.

Agreed.

And it helps highlight the real reason that folk do this stuff - so maybe Frontier will eventually take notice.

Some folk don't have hours to play - some have jobs, families and kids, and they only get limited time. For those folk getting to Sothis in the first place is a challenge, and finding/flying to another system is not trivial.

I have a friend on Xbox who has about 30min every 2-4 days, depending on kids and such. Just getting out to Sothis took him a week's worth of game-time.
Happy to say he got in, got out and was able to finally buy an Asp. It's going to enable him to now engage in the sort of gameplay that he wants to, and was able to get it done before the fun police managed to rain on his parade.

the things is the people doing it are just driving away the casual gamer , i dont have the time i use too have with work an family so elite can be a nice escape for a hour a night if am lucky lol

i log in a see this and think i cba flying round for an hour for no reason so just turn it off , in the end the people doing this will end up driving the casual gamer away but hey if that gets you the attention you crave crack on and enjoy you empty universe :)

Logged in before going to work to see how things were. Sothis is up and running, managed to get 10 or 12 millions worth of long hauling missions, and then I could fill my entire mission log with the short "go to Ceos" ones, so at this hour everything looks fine.

Not really, it is no secret that Sothis is under UA attack. Yes it forces you to get creative and make a choice, there are a LOT of planets out there and a lot to do. Many ways to make cash, if that is your only desire, but also many other ways to enjoy the game. ED is about freedom to play and manipulating the BGS is part of playing the game. Yes we may not all like what is being done but it can be opposed if you like or you can go elsewhere. This is the nature of the game.
.
P.S. I too have kids, a job and limited play time available but I am currently at Jaques(!) It took me several weeks to get out here but it was worth it for the storyline..

Corrosive resistant cargo racks

Erm what has corrosion got to do with data systems being brought down?

Oh yes sorry that's right the station has its servers where cargo is stored and the station were very silly and forgot about corrosion!.

Anyhoo in the name of science, could you UA haulers go drop 1000 in the nearest sun and see what happens, do they scream?

So, Schadefreude Trottel. Diese Leute sind die kompletten Volltrottel. Aber egal.

Thanks UA bombers for the motivation boost! Thank! You! So! Much! Wouldn't have had the energy to do more runs if You... my true heros would not have started the UA bombing.

Thank! You!

And this is where the real Schadenfreude comes from. Watching people in the struggeling for weeks in the hole they created themselves. : D *big smile*

89 more millions to come. I'm already considering to stop then as I got more than I need. But just to see them suffer with their itch and ticks in their faces. More maybe tomorrow morning.

I'm inspired to follow your lead... I haven't been up there since I got my 'Conda, and I fly a Cutter now. Looks like I'll be making 92mil on this trip back.

Normally I would fly between the two systems and pick up missions, but since New Dawn is offline I just flipped the mission board some. It gives me a warm glow to know that board flipping was a reason given for the bombing, and instead I've been forced to do it. Mmmmmmmmmm, tasty irony.
:D

If/when the station goes down, I'll be dropping millions in cargo in the start systems - so if you're a newbie give-me a shoutout if you see me! Easy credits for EVERYONE!
[haha]

If we're away the casual gamer which frankly is one of the most ridiculous assertions I've come across, then a game with a living breathing galaxy is not for them to start off with.

I'd have to agree that elite isn't for the casual gamer... nor should it cater to them. I'm a casual car mechanic, but you won't see me rebuilding engines... don't have the time for it as much as i might like to do it

In any case, Sothis is still up and running!

I think the issue many people have with this is that there's nothing to be gained from it for any party other than being a $statement. What I'm trying to say is this: The behaviour is, in a breathing galaxy, irrational as you don't gain anything but lose time & money. The idea of disabling a station in itself is great, I like it. But it needs to have proper consequences for those doing it plus it needs to have a wider impact on the 'breathing' galaxy. You should become rather unpopular in the local system and with the wider faction, for example. See what I mean?

PFfft, and there you are *very* wrong. ED is extremely casual friendly, unless people like you decide you want to dictate how people should play, according to your preferences.

ED is a very simple game, superficially, and it is ENTIRELY VALID to enjoy it as such, if that's all you want it to be.

Want to play Space Truck Simulator, and simply move XX of commodity YY to Station ZZ? Go right ahead. Knock yourself out. Have fun doing it. You're hurting NOBODY, and you're enjoying yourself.

Want to be the bounty hunter Preston of the Spaceways, and hunt down nefarious pirates, cleaning the galaxy of filth? Do it, and have fun.

Want to be a scumbag pirate, and prey on helpless traders for their cargo? Hey, if that's your thing, go right ahead!

Want to blaze off on your own, go see things NOBODY has ever seen before? That you can do too, just head off in a random direction with a discovery scanner, & knock yourself out!

Or you can be like childish and immature snapperheads like yourself, and decide "I am going to decide for people what constitutes a valid gameplay experience. I am going to appoint myself the arbiter of how people should play a game that I have absolutely zero role in developing or designing. I am going to decide for other people how they should play this game. I am going to be a self-appointed gatekeeper, and restrict access to content because it's what I need to do to feel better about myself, because I need the affirmation I derive from frustrating others from engaging in legitimate gameplay activities. Purely because I can, not for any ingame reason, or any valid external reason. I am just a troll who delights in frustrating others, and the attention that garners me."

And I know you're going to go "Oh wow, look at the salt I'm gaining from this", or however you children describe somebody pointing out your flaws to you these days. And I don't care if you're 50 with 17 kids, you're behaving like a child.

The truth is, I'm not angry about what you're doing. I'm sad. I'm disappointed. I pity, and am sorry for, you. Because if the way you get your kicks is from hassling others, and interfering with their gameplay for *no other reason*, by your own admission, than I can do it, even only within something as trivial as a game, then you are a sad, pathetic, and sorry excuse for a human being.

Nobody who has spoken out about your actions so far really cares that you've UA Bombed Sothis & Ceos. It costs you a lot more to shut down that station than it costs anyone who was enjoying the long range trades to go somewhere else.

We're all just really disappointed in *you*, and your silly and childish behaviour.
