Interdicted by a cowardly cobra

So, my first interdiction - a snarky cobra had a go at me. I attempted to escape back into supercruise, but was unable to, so I turned and fought him to low hull percentage - at which point he goes into supercruise!

I was left with a 400cr repair bill and no kill.

How do you stop the pirates running away? How do you cruise out of a fight? How do you run down a fleeing enemy that has entered cruise?

You can escape but your proximity to the other ships mass will mean it will take longer for the FSD to charge. For me I do the following when I am interdicted, or wish to flee a combat situation that has gone poorly:

1. All pips to engines.
2. Put the other ship to the rear and boost away
3. Turn off flight assistance and put your self into a corkscrew trajectory
4. Tweak this trajectory with random thruster inputs

Really the other ships shouldn't be able to go into SC if you are mass locking them, so we just have to put up with them vanishing for now.

Interdictions are weird... most ships that I encounter feel like they are better than in the 'missions' and you get less bounty for them. I tend to ignore them and just fly away.

Left panel, subsystems. Should be able to choose a specific module to prevent npc super cruise

Was it the Radiant Dawn?
I've run into that guy repeatedly in Eranin. Kept interdicting me, getting shot up and running away. Then he showed up in the middle of the Federal Distress signal and tried to steal my (non existent) cargo in the middle of the battle. He eventually tried to flee, but ran into the side of the disabled Dreadnaught and I finally managed to blow him up.

Shortly thereafter, a second dreadnaugbt spawned on top of the first one, causing a spectacular display of damage effects and an accompanying withering hail of fire directed at my framerate. I barely managed to frameshift out with my GPU intact.

I'm pretty sure Radiant Dawn is the devs experimenting with creating the gaming worlds first NPC troll :)

Is it possible for an NPC to be a griefer?

Radiant Dawn says yes !

:D

I find it's quicker to just boost away (4-pips eng) until you can get a 'normal speed' FSD charge time - rather than starting the drive when its mass-locked at 24x, 12x or 6x slowdown.

At the moment the interdictions really aren't a challenge, they're more 'optional' encounters. :D

Radiant Dawn doesn't care where you are, he will find you.

Here he's taking time out from pirating to aid the Federation.
