My SOTHIS report - Updated every hour (or not)

Don't worry folks - Sothis / Ceos may be up and down due to malicious UA bombing, but there are plenty of other stations offering long range missions for decent profit. Just mix it up a bit and carry on making money ...and let the UA bombers knock themselves out in the meantime! I have no problem with that, if that's what they choose to do. Being petty and sad is still blazing your own trail, I suppose. Right on, CMDRs!

Or you can be like childish and immature snapperheads like yourself, and decide "I am going to decide for people what constitutes a valid gameplay experience. I am going to appoint myself the arbiter of how people should play a game that I have absolutely zero role in developing or designing. I am going to decide for other people how they should play this game. I am going to be a self-appointed gatekeeper, and restrict access to content because it's what I need to do to feel better about myself, because I need the affirmation I derive from frustrating others from engaging in legitimate gameplay activities. Purely because I can, not for any ingame reason, or any valid external reason. I am just a troll who delights in frustrating others, and the attention that garners me."

Sorry to clip your quote, Bacchus, didn't want to keep it all in just to add a small snippet;

This UA bombing is the first untoward movement I've experienced whilst I've been playing the game (though I've watched Elite and seen others.)

What's more impressive to me than the joint effort of these people to ruin everyone elses fun, is that so many more people like yourself are out here defending the casuals, defending whatever anyone wants to do in the game because this really is the game for anyone. Find your favourite feature and play away, unless it's spoiling the game of course.

I'd wager the ratio of people just testing the waters when they first play E:D vs. those coming in knowing exactly what they'll do and what kind of person they'll be in game is way over in the casual side. And probably half, if not way more of those casuals will forge a path for themselves.

Actions like this just exclude newbies - who by definition are casual imo - from getting further into the game and the community.

I'd have to agree that elite isn't for the casual gamer... nor should it cater to them.
Rubbish... Elite's as casual or as serious as you make it.
Besides, UA bombing doesn't give the bombers anything other than 'lulz' - refraining from bombing Sothis isn't "catering" to newbies.

Ironically, they could do awesome work: they could help with the Jaques CGs, they could support a minor faction, the could join powerplay and UA bomb enemy targets.... they could help newbies and guide them to other play-styles.
But they lack imagination or skill, preferring to club seals. Whatever - however they make themselves feel important is irralivent to me.

I'll just keep making 90mil runs out of Sothis, flipping the message boards, ditching out of PvP (via legit means), and distributing the loot to newbies who didn't earn it... all the things they say they're UA bombing to prevent. And I'll be getting newbies into usable ships and then recommending they move to private, so they can avoid anyone else that gets their giggles from ruining other people's fun.

Have to thank nathdixon92. Your petty behaviour has spurred me on to engage in Sothis after ignoring it for around a year.

320 million over 3 runs. 320 million I wouldn't have had if you hadn't created a scene about sothis. So, thanks for that 320 mil it's all down to you!

How's that for salt.

PFfft, and there you are *very* wrong. ED is extremely casual friendly, unless people like you decide you want to dictate how people should play, according to your preferences.

ED is a very simple game, superficially, and it is ENTIRELY VALID to enjoy it as such, if that's all you want it to be.

Want to play Space Truck Simulator, and simply move XX of commodity YY to Station ZZ? Go right ahead. Knock yourself out. Have fun doing it. You're hurting NOBODY, and you're enjoying yourself.

Want to be the bounty hunter Preston of the Spaceways, and hunt down nefarious pirates, cleaning the galaxy of filth? Do it, and have fun.

Want to be a scumbag pirate, and prey on helpless traders for their cargo? Hey, if that's your thing, go right ahead!

Want to blaze off on your own, go see things NOBODY has ever seen before? That you can do too, just head off in a random direction with a discovery scanner, & knock yourself out!

Or you can be like childish and immature snapperheads like yourself, and decide "I am going to decide for people what constitutes a valid gameplay experience. And I know you're going to go "Oh wow, look at the salt I'm gaining from this", or however you children describe somebody pointing out your flaws to you these days. And I don't care if you're 50 with 17 kids, you're behaving like a child.

The truth is, I'm not angry about what you're doing. I'm sad. I'm disappointed. I pity, and am sorry for, you. Because if the way you get your kicks is from hassling others, and interfering with their gameplay for *no other reason*, by your own admission, than I can do it, even only within something as trivial as a game, then you are a sad, pathetic, and sorry excuse for a human being.

Nobody who has spoken out about your actions so far really cares that you've UA Bombed Sothis & Ceos. It costs you a lot more to shut down that station than it costs anyone who was enjoying the long range trades to go somewhere else.

We're all just really disappointed in *you*, and your silly and childish behaviour.

No one has spoken out? Really?

No one has spoken out? Really?

Please understand that nobody gives a rat's ass. There are at least 26 other systems where we WILL engage in the same activity that it's taking bombers days (or weeks) to close down in Ceos alone. No big deal at all.

The ONE AND ONLY reason there is even the slightest debate/discussion is because of this:

People (you included) don't understand the bombing mechanics and counters, and discuss about it. Not about you, really.

It's not the bombing itself, see. It has happened in the past, and nobody cares. It happened to Robigo, which was bigger than Sothis/Ceos, and people talked about it MUCH MORE than this time.

If FDev explained these mechanics and the stations had some sort of counter/progress bar for bombing and fixing, people would get down to business and these threads would die immediately.

So, whatever you think, your effect on current events is negligible, and despite your wanting to think "I set this in motion", you didn't and we don't care.

People want FDev to explain their own game and that's all.

Somehow my forum link seems to be broken? Am I in EVE Online poltics discussion now? Also LOL at the guys proving something because they "can". EVE Online seems more the type of game you seek. People playing this game care for their online hardmanship deeply. Looks like you went on a toddlers playground(elite) and acted like its verdun(eve).

Sothis/Ceos was most important of them all, i don't remember any other place in which you can do multi-million missions in 1 jump. Of course, there are other places but gettin x million from one Sothis to Ceos mission in one jump was priceless.

If "nobody gives a rat's ass" stop wasting your time being salty around here.

No, nobody has spoken out about you UA Bombing Sothis or Ceos.

Go back through the threads and topics.

Please do.

You'll find a lot of "You're a childish at", "please grow up", "you're an immature idiot", and so forth, and so on,

and very little "OMG I can't farm Sothis for credits!!!! OH WOE IS ME!!! WHAT AM I TO DO?!?!?!?!"

That is exactly it.
That is what FD needs to do.
They need to create a cool fulfilling gameplay mechanism around this.
It is that kind of stuff the game needs.

Anyone thought of starting a Galactic Trade Organisation (err GTO) between us space truckers to keep Sothis and Ceos open for business?

The only membership requirement would be to make a MA milk run for Maia once per Bubble trip (unfortunately you would need Horizons). The $$$ being pulled in from missions is sufficient to sustain this (well the other concern would be actual man hours spent IRL)

I've been to both, I have max rep with all the factions and I've never seen a multi million mission between the two stations. I've seen several where you have to haul stuff back to the bubble for several million, but never just between the two stations.

I've seen several for between 3 and 5 million between ceos and sothis.

Eventually we'll get the MAs out there to fix them.

Hi Folks,

Just arrived at Sothis. Still fully working. I'm going to report my MILLION credits load here after (oh nooooooo) switching to Open/Solo/Private to get more out of the gold mine.

30. mio. credits stacked transport missions so far. Aiming for around 80 before going back to the bubble.

UA BOMB my butt!

Sothis is not UA bombed. CEOS is UA bombed. Kills off all the two-way Ceos/Sothis data runs. All data goes one-way, Sothis to Ceos for now.

What's really funny, after all the work to kill the stations they will be right back up. I have found multiple systems like Ceos and Sothis not even trying. I would bet most of these station killers benefitted from an exploit (or more than one) to get their money.

Does anyone know roughly how many meta alloys it takes to return the station to normal operation?

Does anyone know exactly when meta alloys being delivered has an effect? Do we need to wait until the station is reporting failures?

I don't mind throwing 100 million or so into meta alloy deliveries to wipe the smile off these troll's faces. I'd make it back within hours of the station services coming back up.

I don't know but I'm trying to get this suggestion I made off the ground (along with another suggestion made by MacrosTheBlack on transparency on the current UA / MA count for a station that is shutdown) : https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/282091-Suggestion-fix-ua-ma-balance
