My SOTHIS report - Updated every hour (or not)

I could understand these players actions if it was linked to bgs or faction related in some way. It isn't. It's pure spite and pettiness. Very sad.

The revelation that the guys doing this are on Xbox is both disheartening and yet, feels vaguely inevitable. Of course it's just a bunch of 12-year olds that got to borrow their big brother's console - because who else has the spare time to waste UA bombing Sothis, while lacking the skill or patience to do something like fly to Jaques?
The one bright side is that it means they might have seen me on my runs to/from the station, and with any luck it was specifically them that were irritated when I exited the game whenever they interdicted me*. 170mil in one night, just under their noses.

Helped upgrade some newbies to ships they didn't 'earn' last night too. Word to anyone else doing this - insist they get collector limits first, or filling up their little 10t cargo holds with painite will bring you naught but sorrow (although getting them from sidewinder to adder or cobra is priceless). Was awesome to get one Cobra user into an Asp though. Also made sure to get them into a private group and away from the griefers - I like to think that soon the bombers will soon be just a few lonely kids in a empty playground.

In defense of the Xbox crowd, most of the folk I know are good sorts - the same mature adults amazed and thrilled with the chance to play at having a life among the stars as populate the PC. I've carted 200t of cargo Jaques, and mined 800t for the current CG. I've discovered earth-like worlds, untouched nebula and ringed suns. I've led newbies in an epic trade runs, and I've enjoyed being pirated by pirates that asked for cargo rather than just melting me down for lolz.
It's true the the stereotypical homophobic, socially awkward dudebro exists too (probably UA bombing Sothis) - but they are a minority from what I've seen. Most Xbox users are the sort that would fly a Keelback all the way to Jaques just to be part of the adventure, or scour distant moons for new barnacles.

Will be offering the "Jaques" special tonight. Anyone that wants their ship upgraded for a trip out to the black can get the credits from me. Recommended build for newbies: https://coriolis.io/outfit/cobra_mk_iii/0p0tdFaldd8sdf4----020232v648012i2f.Iw1-kA==.Aw1-kA==
You don't have to fly to Jaques, feel free to just take a short trip and get the achievement for finding a planet to call your own. Because no matter what the bombers say, Elite is a game you play your own way.

* In the officially allowed manor of exiting the game with a 15sec delay. Normally I play in private, but I'm playing in open to reflect the whole, "It's in the game, so I'm allowed to do it" mentality the bombers have.

I can second this... (Would quote but it's too long!). Started on pc... Went to Xbox... Then went back to pc (quicker loading and updated more frequently. Yes, bought the game twice... You're welcome frontier!). Met lots of cool people on the Xbox, being a doofus is not console exclusive!

Wanting something or wanting to do something; has nothing to do with how mature you are or appear to be. How you get what you want, or how you go about doing something, can reflect, how mature, or immature, you are.

They say that actions speak louder than words. Your actions have lead some to conclude your maturity has yet to be developed. Your words, explaining and justifying your actions, only seam to enforce this conclusion.

One would hope that you are mature enough to play a game, with an age rating of 7 years of age, so no, I have not concluded that you are too immature to play the game. How you play the game on the other hand, does raise the kind of questions, you raise above.

Mods: I am simply answering a question, not making a personal post about a poster.

I do quote because this made me smile, despite usually disliking 'combat logging'! ..maybe sometimes an exception can be made if it's reasonable enough, like in this case!

Also i know exactly how it feels when helping a newbie to new ships without collector limpets...
Did it only once to help my brother to get from a Sidey into a Cobra & an AspX a few days later and at first i thought it would be a good idea to have him scoop up the Palladium manually because 'learn2fly', then told him 'go get some limpets' because OMG!

He learned to fly a bit by now though.. [heart]

Also i'm sure there are decent folks out there on the xbox as well, just as there are trolls & kids on PC, but the ratio would be different..
However Elite caters to the more 'grown up' in general i believe because of the 'slow' gameplay, so i assume you're right about the majority of the Elite xbox community..

Fly Safe!

I believe is it's the salt mining that people find immature. You have been very successful in joining every related thread and stirring things up further. The impact on the forums far outstrips what you have been able to achieve in the game. Well done on that. But, it does come across as the attention seeking behaviour of a naughty child.

Sure, play the game the way you want to. A pity you don't show such tolerance for other people's preferences. So don't expect folk not to call you out on that.

Really the PC vs Console and "Kids on consoles" argument does not belong here. Age of the player has nothing to do with griefing.

Besides, nathdixon1992 makes it pretty easy to tell that this isn't a 12 year old playing on his brothers console.

Agreed. This thread wasn't about the folk trying to UA bomb Sothis... It was about reporting on the mind bending amount of credits that folk were making, and what they then did with that silly amount of credits. And yet here he is, trolling away.
I was going to cart some more cargo out to Jaques, but until Sothis goes down I'll do exactly what the bombers don't want me to do - enjoy making mad stacks of cash, and then passing the credits out to people that they think "aren't playing the game properly". Fat stacks for ALL!

And Sothis going down might take a while, since I hear that the Pixel bandits Xbox group might be running Meta-alloys in.

12 year olds don't have this kind of coordination when it comes to something as complex as UA and the results there of. Your condisinding tone with calling people kids simply reeks of immaturity and seems hypocritical of you. 12 year olds throw verbal fits of rage when they don't get their way like you are here. Its why I'll never play call of duty again. People of your condisinding manner.

By condisinding[sic], do you mean "proper spelling and grammar"?
I apologise if you find my post condescending, but rest assured: you'd fit right in with the Call of Duty crowd.

You trolling me too?! At least I don't complain about people playing the game the way it was made. Go find a new game. Take your dictionary too, I I had to tone this post down on second thought. I hope I don't need to spell it out of you. I quit because of the condescending nature of people like youself. Just because your mother didn't love you enough doesn't mean you have to go around making a scene. Calm down abit. Maybe even get a life.

Not sure if sothis is down yet but I did a leisurely 75.5 million run. This brings it to around 400 million that I would never have made had the UA bombers not decided to hit sothis. I'd not done a sothis run in almost a year.

Their plan is gold... It just brings more attention to sothis so more people can stack missions. Slow clap.

Clearly my post was another "verbal fit of rage", so I'll try to learn from your calm and measured response.

In the meantime, I've collected another 80mil credits from Sothis. If any newbies want a hand, I'll be floating around the starter systems.
The "Jaques" special is still on! Anyone that wants their ship upgraded for a trip out to the black can get the credits from me.

Why is everyone getting mad? They're going to do this once or twice realise it's simply not worth the time and effort then give up.

Woooow so we just fly to a new station and get the missions there? Not hard at all. How long it's taken them with the tiny impact it has it's just not worth it and even the simplest of minds will not find enjoyment from doing this another 2 or 3 times.
