Very Dark

Hi Guys,
I know that space is dark but I've seen umpteen youtube vids where the asteroid belts etc are very visible, but when I play they all seem very dark indeed. I'm probably missing something very obvious, but I put it down to age. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

In what way do you experience it as dark? The surroundings or the Hud of the ship or the Objects in game ( planets, stations, ships, asteroids)
Maybe you can change some settings in your graphic card or monitor to show higher brightness?

Space is dark yes :) but when objects are lighted up by nearby suns you should se them clearly but sometimes you can be at the "back of the moon" then it will be dark. :)

OP, do you happen to have the "AMD crash fix" enabled? It is not needed any more, a left-over from the early Alpha, and it disables planets, stars etc. and afaik renders asteroids differently, too.

Yeah, its the surrounding environment, rather than the HUD but I'm still finding my way round the game as a new Pemium Beta backer, and I've yet to find a planet to look at as every time I set off in SC I get emergency stopped no matter what I do for being too close to something I can't even see.

Aha...I do have it enabled. I'll give it a go and let you know how I go on...thanks for that.

Well just disabled AMD crash fix and voila... whole new game and everything looks marvellous. P'raps won't bump into stuff so much now... cheers guys
