Cargo storage NEEDED

With the engineers needing commodities, cargo which you have to haul around with you everywhere you go i think its pathetic that you cant store the cargo at a station. If i wanted to take a break from chasing recipes up to modify my ship and goto a res site for abit of bounty hunting or go and do some long haul missions theres a REALLY big problem. Cargo bay full of crap i cant store and cant jettison because some of it takes weeks to find :( - pls pls pls give us cargo storage and stop being blind to this HUGE HUGE HUGE problem! !!!!!!

I have pretty much given up on it coming anytime soon, so if I want to start playing the game again looks like I have to bite the bullet and ditch 150 tons of cargo.... :(

I think this is an issue, but not one that is easy to fix. I imagine that if there was storage, they would have to recreate the"crafting" cargo as separate items to normal buy able cargo. The reason for this is that it would allow a player to, assuming they have the cash, buy all the goods at a station at a low price and then just ferry back and forward. This would could allow a player to crash the market, as the price for the goods would sky rocket as there would be no stocks. With that in mind I think it would be a little complicated to setup.
The only solution I can see for this is to create a new section in the inventory, as with data and materials, for componenets, and then let us keep them there.

Specialised storage for the engineer commodities was mentioned during one of the gamescom streams. There will not be general commodity storage, but they're looking into a way to store those items at the engineers who need them.

Would be nice but not needed IMO.
Most commodities can be bought anyways, the rest can be rewarded through missions with in few hours.

Don't want commodity storage for all commodities - do want commodity storage at engineers bases (as stated in the livestream).

Don't carry it around. Just go get some when you need it on your way to the engineer. Half of it is available in markets.

Or wait until October when this already announced feature will be introduced.

It's a pain but you can get what you need in any ship you just have to play about with modules.

Get the FSD range upgrade first will making travelling for commodities and materials a lot quicker and easier.

Was it actually on the list for 2.2? I remember them mentioning it, possibly in a Q&A part, but I wasn't sure what "grade" of announcement that was.

No it isn't. MB said they were considering storage at engineer bases for future implementation.
I wouldn't hold by breath.

Not needed. All stuff is available on demand.

iFred, pray tell me where your source of readily available Modular Terminal are please. Willing to travel anywhere in the Galaxy for these!!!

Again, Modular Terminals.... 25 needed for Marco. You can't just pop out and get these you have to find them as Mission rewards, so that means 'CARRYING' these around till you get the required 25 so you can dump them off to Marco. Whilst hoping from System to System finding these, you are No 1 prime Target for the Elite Conda's and FDL's and other nuisances. Storage either at home base of Engineers would be great, so you can collect a few, dump them off, then go about your business without the needless interdictions.

For Example: I have 16 Mod Terms at the moment, but wanted to do the Arque CG, so went into the Res site and was an Immediate Insta target for EVERY Pirate this side of the black stump. One time i had 8 people shooting at me, not conducive to bounty hunting and had to make quick exit. Choice was ditch the Mods and go back to Res Site so i won't be an Insta Pirate target? Or take the beating, go back to Station, get repaired, hand in small Bouties, then back out again for another beating.

Simple Storage at Engineers base would insta cure this!

Simple solution. Get rid of the commodity requirements in RNGineer recipes and make missions only give you materials as rewards.

Oh Yes Purleese!

Great suggestion!

It was a very poor design choice to include commodities in the blueprints, and especially include mission only commodities. A lot of player frustration could have been avoided by making it materials only. But I guess FD is getting a kick out of adding game mechanics that messes with players peace of mind.

You effectively can store them at Qwent's, you don't need to deliver all 25 at once, just go and deliver your 16 and come back later when you have the rest. No need to carry them around.

Of course Qwent would be the one that's 10,000 ls out, but hey.

Rep sir. Had not considered that. Many Thanks.

Re: Marco. Fair point. That particular incidence is a pain. The immediate fix is to make Modular Terminals a 'normal' material, only available through the quests that currently provide it. Cannot then be sold on the markets, but it doesn't take up cargo, attract pirates or disappear when you die.

Forgot about that! Yeah... ignore the first part of this message... I was wrong: There is a solution in play.

'Just dump it and get it again when you need it' seriously, i doubt youve even tried doing any engineer upgrades or you wouldn't come out with such dribble! Some of this stuff is very VERY hard to come across and the quantities needed means your bound to that aspect untill youve used what youve already collected. Ive been looking for modular terminals just over a week, found only 4 through a mission in SOL the other night - getting pretty bored of searching and want to go do some hauling & res sites :/ I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DUMP A WEEKS WORK because FD dont think things through or WONT give us basic cargo storage!@#$# not asking for a whole hanger 500t would suite everyone imo.

I love this game but simple stuff like this needs sorting along with character creation and ship naming - not a whole lot of work for FD but would make a whole difference to the game.

Gets my vote.

The whole situation is a bit silly tbh, and whilst FDev have made good efforts to reduce the grind in RNGineers, it still feels an over-engineered (sorry) solution, to the detriment of general game-play, of what is quite a good and fun idea.

Despite the current furore over instant ship movement, it seems that FDev have woken up to reality, I assume in part by watching player numbers and sales, and are trying to make the game more immediate and accessible. Great!!!

Yes we know. FDev knows. It has been discussed an awful lot already.
They (FD) seem to be willing to implement engineer commodity storage at engineer bases.
That is what mr. Sammarco said at Gamescom.
Now it comes down to patience...
...which is hard I know, because currently engineer commodities are being a pain in my cargo hold too.
