Missions

The last couple of days I've been taking missions to deliver goods to a station , just as I'm docking literally just going through the letter box I get a message telling me to take them 40ly in the other direction , so I say no, got over a million cr fine ,because there wasn't a black market I'm carrying illegal goods .So I do other missions to a station that's got a black market and the same thing happens tells me to take them miles out of my way ,So I've abandoned missions sold the goods left with millions crs in fines .Is this a bug or some programmer's idea of fun, surely I should have the option to say no, I've signed up for one job that's it .

Don't all smuggling missions state they are smuggling and you risk getting fined? Originally if I remember correctly, you would fail your smuggling missions on scanning.

The Transporter would never agree to changing the deal.

The whole concept that the mission can be changed unilaterally by the client is a bit strange.

The option to decline the new terms not being available does seem a bit illogical or perhaps "FD ish"

This. We need an option to say "Nah, I'm taking the goods to the original location. I can move them again for a nominal fee after the original transaction has been completed."

Had a mission today while gaining rep with the Eurybia (sp?) blue Mafia where I had it reroute 14ly in the other direction as I was pulling into the station. I just said forget it and abandoned the mission.

Rule number 1. I remember posting that on a similar thread a while back. The Deal is the Deal.

This is getting annoying.

Had less than 20 mins gameplay earlier before I had to go do some RL stuff, picked up 2 cargo deliveries and a load of boom data missions for a system 14ly away. Just about to dock at the destination and got updates on the 2 cargo missions asking for them to be delivered to 2 separate systems 150ly away with a very small and insignificant bonus reward for doing so.
I have a choice of abandoning the missions, pay the fines and disposing of the cargo - also taking a rep hit from the agent. Or trying to get the, now not worth it, cargo to the new destination before it times out, somehow.

This makes no sense at all. We should have the option to decline the redirection and hand the cargo to the original destination at no loss. Or the payment for redirecting should be proportional to the extra distance travelled plus the time it takes. It also makes trying to route plan cargo delivery missions completely pointless.

I've had quite a few missions doing this in the last 2 days, some diversions were over 200ly. Nice thing to happen just before logging off to go to bed.

Someone in FD is having a laugh!

I completely agree. There sould at least be a time extension, but it should also offer a decent reward in materials, credits and/or reputation. There should also be a choice.

Meh, chalk it up to just another hiccup in the game. There are already so many things that don't work/make sense that you'll burst a blood vessel if you concentrate on them. My two personal favorites are "all that tasty cargo" when I don't even have cargo racks, or the expedited delivery in "0.0h" minutes.......... ;)

That's how cargo deliver missions work now. The destination can change at any time. It annoys me, but that's how it is.

As you found out, abandoning the mission is worse than just going to the new location.

I tend not to take these missions too often, unless I'm just feeling bored and want the annoyance to keep me awake :)
