Will we be able to take passengers?

One of the things I enjoyed most in Frontier: Elite was taking people around to places they needed to get to. Whether it was a group of 4 or 6 going on holiday, or fitting 2 passenger cabins to my Imperial Courier to take people who were on the run.

Is there any plans to be able to do this in the final game once again?

Yes.

If you like that kind of thing you're gonna love the dolphin, orca and beluga ships.

Yes, there will also be a special passenger ships, which will be good looking and super comfortable.

I would imagine the bounty for the destruction of such a craft and the many lives that may be lost because of it would cause a very large bounty to be placed on the killers head. I hope this bounty is somehow linked not just to the craft but how many people are on board, for what in effect would be mass murder.

That would be good indeed. You would need to be able to scan down exactly how many passengers are onboard before attacking it as well, so you can make sure you're not shooting at an empty one

The next question is: why even attack a passenger liner, empty or otherwise? They may not have valuable cargo on board, you can't exactly go aboard and demand they all hand over their jewellery...at least not until EVA. :)

But you could have been given a mission at a pirate base to eliminate some unwanted competition, who has just boarded such a vessel. You then have to weigh up the bounty you are likely to receive against the possible rewards for carrying out such a hit.

So you do you carry out the hit, get the reward and a fat bounty on your head, or do you cancel the contract with the ramifications of doing so such as a negative rep hit with that faction and possible reprisals, with some pirates dispatched to eliminate you?

Choices, choices... :)

Maybe you'd attack it but not destroy it (no murder bounty) - make it turn back. As such ruining the reputation of the cruise provider for giving safe travel. Which is just what the competition who hired you wanted. Mission accomplished! :D

Or perhaps it was a group of thrill seekers who worked boring jobs and wanted to go see what space combat is like up close!

I can imagine the reactions from the passengers as they are told to climb into those cargo canisters prior to ejection! :)

Well, think of assassin contracts like the older Elite games. Like taking out the CEO of a large company...what do you think he will use as a transport. A sidewinder?

Also, there is an incentive to pirate passenger ships. They will probably be able to carry some cargo which you can scoop, and you can also take the passengers in their pods into your cargo hold.

1. If you have cargo bay life support, you could sell them as slaves.
2. If you don't, you can sell them as fertilizer,...or even food..XD

From the novel 'Elite Dangerous: Wanted' there could be a MacGuffin abord to give a reason for someone to attack a passenger liner. :)
