The chances of having a fun or interesting fight are incredibly low now. Before 2.1, I never turned down a fight because they were nearly always great fun. Now the fights are short and lopsided, even without heat weapons. I remember the days when I'd fight someone and have a great time, and we'd change our builds and ships, and go for round 2. Now round 2 happens several weeks later and is determined by a poker machine.

I can't really vote on that,
dodged a lot of fights lately.

The missile buff surely is something i anticipated a lot,
but my slow connection hardly lets me get fair fights, even in CqC due to P2P hit resolving.

I can't stand ships scoring hits on me, while they clearly shoot way above my location.
This happens to me too, but it's not my connection; it's my latency.

It will improve my PvP gameplay thankfully to instant ship teleportation. I will be able to summon my two griefing ships by just a click. I do not care about money, i am a billionaire :)

I havent played ED for ages until very recently. So in my last few days playing I have found some of the NPC ships are well overpowered, and a recent griefing by a player (nothing to do with Engineers) has stopped me playing open for the first time and for the last few days Ive played solo only. So I am not sure if Engineers has made it worse or not really. Certainly I get my ass handed to me by the bulk of the NPC ships now, but player contact is so infrequent in this game that I dont actually think Engineers has substantially changed my open game.

I feel its more the griefers that need handling (those who shoot unladen, clean ships in non-anarchy systems) and also the overpowered NPC ships that are using Engineers tech, than anything to do with Engineers and players per se.

I am finding that I have much more to do now - goals I can set myself, but not resorting to "grinding".

Travel now takes longer because it is worth investigating those signal sources, scanning passing ships, etc.

My current goal is to unlock the list of Engineers, where I can. One requires a trip down to Empire space - which will let me finally cash in that stack of bounties I have for them! I've improved a couple of modules on my ship - to nice effect, but drawing a bit too much power now for my liking - have to solve than.

Although it was a bit scary when the uber-NPCs where out there - now its just an intelligent risk; running away is definitely a tactic at times, but the Security Forces seem more responsive (i.e. the don't run away!).

PvP?, is that thing where in 2.1 you fit thermal shock and thermal cascade and have a quickdraw on who pushes the "I win" button first?

I see what you did there ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Well it will definitely up the stakes once 2.2 drops and a lot of ppl will be able to insta-summon their fleets :) Used to spend hours taxi-ing ships back and forth...

Oh you... :)
T'is quite sad that the only way to have PvP fun is by griefing...and i have to admit I considered that option before deciding going on a break until things hopefully improve in the game and I get more time to play.

Uhhh...you talkin' about your PvP experience here??? ;)

It must be me... I've never run into a live person in open, nor ever had a match actually happen in Arena. I think I sat queued for two hours once, and nothing.
Not that I'm really all that in to PvP, it's not really my thing, but... being alone in the void, well...

For me, it's totally destroyed the experience. When fighting CMDRs with enhanced weapons, every fight basically ends with one of us losing thrusters after a few minutes and sitting there waiting for the other to pummel the rest of the ship until it explodes.

Not had a single fight since 2.1 which ended any other way, regardless of what else is in the build of either ship.

I used to play at least 5 times a week, now I log on maybe once or twice every two weeks. I tried resetting my save to bring in some excitement and - while it was interesting for a short while - that's lost the shine too. All I can do now is wait for 2.2 beta to see if there's enough interesting content there (or the 2.2 drop, with aliens) to make me bother.

I bought Horizons for the Engineers, because it seemed like it was the answer to everything I thought was wrong with the game. That's true - it did fix all those things, but it also broke it completely in other ways. It would've been perfect, had it not been for the special weapon effects, which essentially just remove all skill elements from combat.

Bad timing for me. A few weeks prior to 2.1 I decided to join a well known PvP crowd. I put a lot of time into learning a Rail-de-Lance and then after the 2.1 handwave all that was obsolete.

Thanks.

So I couldn't be bothered learning it again. Because why?

I gave up on main-game PvP sometime around 1.4, and it's only gotten less appealing since then. Voted "not better or worse" as the closest match.

Good old PvP times in Premium Beta and 1.0.

No skill removing SCBs, dynamic fights,
the chance of beating an ananconda in an eagle.
Good times long past.

It´s gone to places. Heat meta has ruined it completely, hull tanking has taken a backseat completely, and packhounds, god those things are a nightmare. When those things are fixed pvp will be a fun and viable experience again instead of a heatsink spamfest.

Marty, we have to go back! :)
:-(

Yes, but apparently people clinging to SCBs,HeRpeS and the like
for forming the swear word of this and next year, convenience,
will rise up in arms if we did.

"I cannot do that dave."

Elite forced us to "take part" in no fair play before. The whole game is based on no fair play. But since the engineers appeared this went worse a lot. "Taking part" often means nothing else than to just wait for your sure death.

top tier whinging by people that don't actually pvp ITT

Your interest in PvP simply is different from mine.
I enjoyed my time best in the quick and dynamic encounters
at 1.0 and before.

I disliked the dilation of the time encounters took,
by increasing health, be it via SCBs or HRPs.

At least engineers is an idea to circumvent this.

Seems you have a different take on PvP.
