Super maneuverable large ships...

Seriously, when did large heave mass ships become more maneuverable than small lighter ships?

Been playing this game again after 3/4 month break and already with 1 hour of playing the game is annoying the hell out of me.

Yes larger ships can be very very powerful and so they should be... but out turning small ships...

The only large ship that can become more manouvrable than a smaller ship is the Corvette with modified drives. :)

They're not, you're just not very good at flying small ships.

Hehe, not very tactful but most definitely true. A classic case of someone not flying their ship anywhere near it's full potential, then getting outmaneuvered by a less maneuverable ship being flown correctly.

I have to agree with the above comments and Soopyyy i applaud you sir, for not using that puerile & un-educated term, that school children use.... You know the one the............... G G one!

Git gud, gg, izi pici. Oh wait, this isn't League of Legends. I'll show myself out. :D

Yes, because obviously playing the entire X-wing and Tie Fighter series, wing commanders, Conflict Freespace 1 & 2 and have handed more than my fair share of players own backsides back to them in CQC... So I obviously can't fly a small ship.

Excuse me whilst I point out the utter arrogance and baseless assumptions of your posts.

2.1 changed the NPC flight patterns. They now use their maneuvering thrusters more often and very precisely and use backward flying. This results in the illusion of big ships being more maneuverable than small ships. The old dogfighting NPCs are no more. It's jousting, circle strafing and backward flying now. Higher ranked NPCs now at least try to fly in a effective way (and are sometimes a bit too optimized - AI can do react and adjust – like thruster usage or pip management – much faster than any human can).

Big ships always where (absurdly in my opinion) maneuverable and some (absurdly…) fast for their size - but that's an other discussion.

You are forgetting the DBX and the Python. Not to mention the Keelback, but since that thing uses a medium sized landing pad it's not exactly a small ship.

(I have to test the Corvette with modded drives…)

A well, I thought of the big three. I guess I'm too focused on the large ships :D

And Corvette with G5 Dirty Drive Tuning is awesome! :D

Then that is poor game mechanics. Big ships should be powerful, but would need to rely heavily on turreted weapons as they have the turning circle of a small moon and this flying backwards stuff is a joke and needs to be erased from the game. Hence, why this small fight bays for the bigger ships would make so much sense. Small fighters deployed to provide the support needed for the much less larger ships.

This game has some excellent flight controls, but it is all wasted on this jousting circling and flying backwards rubbish, it's just spoiling the game. Even if they do use flight assist off and fly backwards, it should still take a lot of time to turn the ship around...

Apparently it does.

I already have the R5 DDT for my Corvette on my list, but I'm not a fan of the big ships - I simply don't know hot to fly them in combat. Someday I will learn it.

Ah sorry my mistake, expert X-wing pilot, must be running rings around NPC ships... Or maybe not. What the heck does X-wing/wing commander & Tie fighter have to do with Elite dangerous? I have hundreds of hours in those games and many others, it means sweet FA in Elite. And since when did CQC teach us how to fight against a large ship? Besides it really isn't hard to beat cmdrs in CQC, if you are regular you'd know it is 90% cannon fodder, with 1 or 2 skilled pilots in the mix. Pretty much the same with PvP in the main game.

You are being outmaneuvered because you are not flying optimally, you can argue against that till you are blue in the face. NPC above a certain rank fly incredibly efficiently, even though the devs removed their actual bite.

By efficient I mean - optimum pip management and blue zone management, use of all thrusters to aid in maneuvering, tactical awareness and correct positioning and counter positioning. The only gripe I have is their weapons capability has been neutered.

They are not baseless assumptions at all. Look at what you've posted...

Your small ship was out turned by a larger ship yet you supply no setup of your ship, have no idea what the setup was of the other ship nor do you even mention what type of ship you or the AI (I presume it was AI as you also neglected to mention this) was flying.

Given what you've told us, I have to agree with the others.

If you can fly a combat python you can fly a Corvette with R5 DDT xD

Never played X wing or this COC thingy-ma-jig, but i am not getting out maneuvered in my icourier/Vulture by ANY big ship........ so i agree with 777 wholeheartedly!
