Newcomer / Intro     just happened?!?!? Did I just lose over 25 million CR worth of a ship???

I was in a T7 and I was destroyed due to my own negligence, the shields were the wrong class for the ship and the attacker took out my thrusters quickly so I had to self-destruct. Anyway, the only option I was given was to rebuy was a Sidewinder and I had over 8 million in the bank and an Asp Explorer parked 150Ly away. I can get back easily to the Asp but did I just lose over 25 million CR worth of a ship??? What happened to the insurance???

And it started like a good day. I thought I was doing all right and I was getting the hang of it.

But, earlier, I took a mission to deliver some goods to a planetary base. I get close to the planet and a message says that "Landing on this planet is not permitted". I tried for good 30 minutes, from different angles and I could not land. I had to abandon the missions and I was fined 650,000CR by the faction who gave me the job.

Now this.    ?

So it turned out to be a pretty bad day.

Hmm my friends T7 is worh 53m and his rebuy is just over 2.6m so if you had 8m in the bank that would have been plenty to rebuy, I can only speculate you selected the wrong option on the rebuy screen.

The insurance rebuy on a 25mill ship should be less than 2mill (it's 5% of the total value of your ship and modules). The only thing I cxan think of is that you didn't read the whole rebuy screen properly but I'm unsure of any other reason why you'd be forced back to a Sidewinder.

As for the planetary landing. Do you own the Horizons expansion? If so, have you made sure it is installed correctly? If not, missions that have a small whitre semi-circle symbol on them are off limits to you as they generally require landing at a planetary base.

Yes, I'm playing Horizons. I'm able to land on all other planets, Engineers, etc.

Man, this sucks. So I'd have to assume that I'd screwed up. But why would the Sidewinder even be the default option? I was destroyed MANY times before and every time the default option for rebuy was my last ship and respawned at the last station I was at. I'm not sure if I want to continue this game at this point. This is too much. I still have the Asp Exp, but I wanted to hauls some cargo for the CG... I'll ask Support if they can help.

Sounds like it. I get totally paranoid around rebuys or storing and buying new ships. I triple check the radio buttons I've selected. I can't think of anything worse than the OP's nightmare.

Also I was thinking of buying a T7 soon but it looks like an expensive investment.

But I was destroyed many times before. And my lost ship was always the default option on the rebuy screen. I opened a support ticket. If I can't get this back, I'm done with this game. This is too discouraging. I spent too much time in this game trying to like it, to get it, over 200 hours, to stomach a loss of of almost half of my progress. And I was so happy this morning. I wanted to go to Jaques at first but then I realized there was a cargo hauling CG close to me so I got the T7 for this. I made a mistake with shields selection and a Cobra MkIII took out my engine, I killed him with mines but I was screwed, no repair kit.

I still have the A-graded Asp Explorer and 8 million CR but I feel burnt out and cheated out of my progress. No one should lose so much progress due to a bug or a stupid mistake. Like that fellow who lost 6 months of exploration data to an interdictor on the way back home.

Yeah, T7 is 25-30 million fully outfitted but it can carry over 200T of cargo. I think I had it at 220 or something around that. Difficult to squeeze through the station slot too.

You mean you weren't presented with the rebuy option, although you had money for it? In that case I'd contact the customer support.

Unless I screwed up something. But the screen only had the sidewinder option. I didn't see a way scroll sideways (like in the shipyard) to select another ship. I wish I took a screenshot but I was too upset to think clearly. I opened a ticket already.

Thanks guys!

From my own experience with them I know support are a patient bunch and from what I have read elsewhere very understanding of the troubles we players have from time to time.

So so I am hopeful of a good ending.

On the subject of the planet issue.. A couple of landables are permit locked, like Lave 2. Yet you can (or could, when it happened to me a few weeks ago) still see missions for them. They show red in the menu's. Yay for bugs. :)

Edit : There's one in Diso,I'm told..and a few around Sol too.

But then why would I be offered a mission to deliver cargo to that planet? The description didn't mention any permits. A mission that was destined to fail with a 600,000cr fine:(

... the attacker took out my thrusters quickly so I had to self-destruct...

Please note that you did not have to self-destruct.

Go to the right-hand panel's FUNCTIONS tab, and select REPAIR AND REBOOT. Your thrusters, which were presumably at 0%, will be repaired and basically functional again.

This also works for other 0% modules. To effect repairs, it cannibalises more functional modules, reducing their percentage a little.
