Atrox - Have you seen my thoughts on page 865? Id appreciate any suggestions

I have now ;)

Very interesting. By the way, that pic I posted is of a kids toy called a "fortune teller" and also..."bug catcher". Curiouser and curiouser.

Kids used to play with them all the time when I was young and people still used flint a lot. You could combine the sections to give different outcomes.

If I wasn't so tipsy I'd probably have a go at making that thing as it probably helps decode the info on that sheet. I may of course be totally wrong, but there are definite folds in that sheet.

So I just wanted to put this out there cause no-one seems to have thought about this at all.

What happens if some player comes in and decides to just destroy these ships (if we even get to see them that is, I'd imagine they're either NPCs or 'player controlled' by Frontier Devs)?

It'd kinda be a waste to go through all this effort waiting only for a player to come along and blast them to smitherines.

I know there's probably several instances and all that jazz but I was just curious.

I want to say that it seems more likely that we'd be looking for a static signal source with some sort of wreck in it.

Just wanted to put my two cents out there, what do you guys think is actually going to happen tomorrow? Do you think it'll be an NPC encounter or something like CMDR Salomé where we have a person behind their character? Or a static instance?

Great work guys!

I've been watching in amazement at all you boffins deciphering everything whilst I make cheap jokes about first contact. This should be a fun hunt tomorrow!

don't fret...cheap jokes are really important in this thread, they keep the anger levels in check

Not everything will be unfolded on the 28th,

the twitter of Kerrash is maybe this will happen in 2.2.

they come from the blackhole Epsilon Orionis, hunting in the pleiades

Bah Weep Grannah Weep Ninny Bong

the UA's are harvesting the energy from the Pleidies, a giant alien dyson sphere. The UPs are just checking Ammonia planets in the area, to make sure there are no Thargoids lurking about.

Reasons: Thargoids are insectoid. The Artifacts and probes (and even barnacles) aren't, they are more.. aquatic. Marine. Fish-like. A different alien species to the Thargoids.
we should get back to talking to the dolphins

I had a search in the friends section and there are CMDR Kohl and Dillon but no Granger suggesting scripted NPC's or static instances, though Granger could be a "dead" bounty hunter so no need for a CMDR anyone got a spare CMDR they can delete to see if they can claim the name CMDR Granger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crustacean

Crustaceans (Crustacea /krʌˈsteɪʃə/) form a very large group of arthropods, usually treated as a subphylum, which includes such familiar animals as crabs, lobsters, crayfish, shrimp, krill, woodlice and barnacles. Thanks to recent molecular studies, it is now well accepted that the crustacean group comprises all animals in the Pancrustacea clade other than hexapods.[1] In other words, some crustaceans are more closely related to insects and other hexapods than they are to certain other crustaceans.
I have always said lobsters are insects of the sea.....don't get why people like them so much...I think they taste odd......once again I am proving to be more scientifically accurate than anyone would give credit for

I agree. It's funny how things line up at 10:00 tomorrow on the star chart though. Not at 09:00 or 22:00 which are some of the other times suggested.

Anyhow, flint as a kid? You're lucky! That was a definite luxury that only the rich could afford when I was a nipper! 😂😂

Nah im betting its a POI. considering we saw a crashed ship on a planet.

Don't think it was me, although Verity did publish an article in which Dr Arcanonn restated the Canonn's policy on first contact after the waters were muddied somewhat with suggestions that we don't have a peaceful first contact policy - which, officially, we do.

But if it were me - then absolutely my Canonn advice is definitely to be recording - with a view to instant upload (and, even better: livestreaming on twitch :) ) and would not deploy hardpoints. If they're gonna take you out, then I think there's very little you can do, and we ultimately can't be sure that even the most innocuous of actions on our behalf (e.g. simply turning up, or performing a ship scan) might come off as aggressive.

That's probably what I'm mis-remembering.

well, I typed my message in during breakfast this morning. Just got home & everyone seems to have been very busy today-impressive guys!
I'm a little confused as I thought this was all due to kick off tomorrow, but interesting to see what comes of it; unfortunately RL today & tomorrow ........so please post videos!

I'm 99% sure it can be done in solo as well. You can shot them a million times, and they will be there again and again.
The only thing that I still don't know is if they will be at the Nav Beacon, or flying in Supercruise to be intercepted or simply joined, or inside some persistent USS as we've already seen in other hunts like this one.
One way or another, they'll be there for everyone, and the first one that gets them, gets the hints first ;)
It's a hunt. There'll be a "winner" as usual.

It will not be on a planet IMHO. Remember we had also a video about a wreckage, a Cobra and an unknown ship... And it was the last hint on the last Braben's Video. All the previous hunts took place in space, for everyone to play.
Anyway, whatever it'll be, I'll like it.

I still think 'The Guardians' might reference a race that helps us in the fight against this antagonistic force and NOT just the fighters, but I'm just guessing.

We have Halsey's Architects as well, but I think they are a few notches abow us normal O2 and NH3 breathers on the evolution ladder.

Yeah, I don't think it will have anything to do with Horizons/planetside as that would effectively lock out a bunch of players from participating until the end. So far nearly all of this (barnacles aside) has been done in space, and I'm inclined to think that that is how the rest of the hunt will continue.

The thing is Elite cannot afford to only ever have events in space. Eventually the story must go planetside and those players without Horizons will have to accept that they are not part of that content. You can't smother the story for some just because others will miss out. We want our planetside stories too lol
