The search is for a bounty hunter. that search starts on the 28th

Which of the clues we picked up yesterday say that any of the characters we are to meet later today are one?

Once again, that clue, including the bit about the 28th and the bit about the bounty hunter, is part of the set of clues for this "event". Clearly. Read the bit you omitted again:
To find more clues you'll need pre-logistics support in a system with one star, two belts, three rings, and enough radiation to turn you green.
"To find more clues" clearly implies that the message itself is one of the clues. And even if it didn't say that, it's obviously implied anyway as it's the start of the treasure hunt and is the only clue that tells us what we are actually looking for: a bounty hunter.

be proud, the PvP gang probably felt you were a challenge worthy if they attacked you.

Lol, there wasn't really a challenge for them. I just sat there and let them kill me so my friend could get enough time to high-wake out of there. I had plenty of credits for several rebuys, I'm not sure how much my friend had. I think they were trying to bait me by getting my friend, though. They attempted to get close for interdiction but I kept turning to face them. I wish the game would specify that Elite status in trading is just that: Elite in Trading. Not combat. I am nowhere near skilled enough for PvP. Once I found out it was the SDC, I just laughed it off. It's Open, I knew what I was getting into, and I was prepared for the rebuy. Got to meet new people, so definitely worth it.

meh. My exploration ship (the one I'm sitting in Apademak in) has no weapons and no cargo hold. It's the PvP equivilent of a lump of space rock. Where is the challenge in that? Doesn't stop them though. Their motivation isn't the challenge, their motivation is "giving you a bad day".

re Bounty Hunter

the last clue yesterday said "to find US", not "to find him" or "to find the Bounty Hunter". Implying there is more than one contact.

I'm happy that the PvP gang find this gameplay challenging and worthy, really. Trust me when I say, you are a challenge for them, and probably a hard challenge for some of them, because otherwise they have no arguments and that would break internet.

Ya know whenever i read this on galnet

"We could show it to you, but that wouldn't be much fun. So instead we're going to play a little game."

"It begins on the 28th. We'll be waiting for you."

I see this in my head MB's mind working overdrive

Nah they went after my courier in a wing of 4 with a corvette. Unfortunately its pretty hard to check out USS when people are trying to interdict you.

About Event, PvE, PvP...

This event (which may last longer since it says the hunt begins on the 28th and 2.2 is still far away) will be a culmination of a year worth of waiting, researching, theorycrafting, reading 8 threads and thousands of posts, watching videos, trying things for yourself, testing, etc... So PvE element is strongest. Also, some elements might be in Open play only.

While I would hope Frontier would give players some choice in this matter (be it some kind of first contact or something else) and that it isnt all 100% scripted event, how can players do anything (Open play) if others are not even remotely interested in the event itself (maybe a little curious) but only there to spoil others experience.
This is clearly not a PvP event. I understand Elite is a "do whatcha want" game and by default everyone can kill "no-hardpoint" explorer ships or even combat ships just because they can.

The picture yesterday around 2 systems and stations was awesome. So many commanders that my FPS dropped quite a lot but it was really a rare moment where you can see so many in one\two places. Everybody is chatting, speculating, being friendly and having a good time and then the problems started as more and more commanders went solo exploring the systems and then getting interdicted. Forget the rebuys and all that stuff. You can do a rebuy but what then? Return and pray that you wont get blown up again in just 2 systems which are seperated by only 20ly? Right...

So if you are a newer player or you are not flying in wing with friends and a badass ship you will most likely be destroyed at some point. Even if you have a big upgraded ship but then you can try and escape the interdicting wing but in exploration vessels or smaller combat ships... Well, the frustration will get you and that is why people switch to Solo\PG.

It is sad really because as said, pictures around Scott or Nav beacons was really awesome and rare when so many commanders come to just one place for a common goal.

What can you do? Can you be friends with all commanders you see and call out for help constantly when searching for NPC in Open and even then they cannot come in time or will you just switch to Solo\PG and do it there?

The PvP Interdicting wings are organized while many (I think big percent) of commanders are not and most are flying solo around the systems or at most in a 2-Wing.

I hope for all commanders who dont fly big modded combat ships (even if they have it stored in some station) and are flying in exploration equipped ships that Event will be able to be seen\interacted\completed in Solo\PG.

Just to finish off, you can say whatever you want in the type of "its a open game, you can do whatever you want and everybody else can do whatever they want". I know that but in this instance I really dont care. This is a huge PvE event and a rare instance of seeing such a big fleet of friendly players and then being interdicted and destroyed constatnly by a small but organized groups while trying to have some fun and solve the riddles while waiting for the big reveal simply ruins the experience and that is why people are switching to Solo\PG.

Catching up with all the puzzle solving after a hiatus of a couple of weeks, and I just wanted to give this...

...to the entire community on this thread. I understand why some people consider these sorts of metagames / ARGs / whatever you want to call them to not be "in the spirit" of videogaming, but as someone who spends much more time observing than participating I find the whole thing fascinating. Groups of people creating mysteries and other groups of people coming together to unravel them... it's great.

I hope all the perseverance pays off and something truly game-changing begins tonight in Apademak. Well done to everyone involved.

Guys, I'm playing catchup and I think I'm on to something! I'm not sure at the moment what *everything* means, but..........

The Constellation symbols, we know, are for Corvus and Taurus.
I'm not sure where the time of 10:00 came from, but go here: http://www.heavens-above.com/SkyChart.aspx?lat=0&lng=0&loc=Unspecified&alt=0&tz=UCT
Enter the date of 28th August 2016 and the time as 10:00.
Put ticks in all but ecliptic pane
Choose Black and White and image size of your choice.

Now locate Taurus (in the NE quadrant)
Locate Corvus (In the SE quadrant)
Rotate the paper drawing so that the Taurus and Corvus are in the same orientation as the constellation map on Heavens Above.

See the three dots on the paper? Look at the three dots to the top left of the Centaurus boundary line..........

I've been trying to upload a pic but it's saying its an Invalid File Format - Sorry!

And a bit of the Mythology, as been as there's been a lot of Greek references in the names of things:
To the Greeks CENTAURUS represented Chiron, the leader of the Centaurs. These creatures - half-man, half-horse were aggressive and warlike, Chiron being the one exception. The only immortal Centaur, he was exceedingly wise and kind.

Guys, has anybody tried what I suggested here? As I said, the lineup of constellations fits for 10:00 UTC (game time) on the 28th......... page 865 for the rest of it

yeah, but is it a Corvus symbol? It may be a plain old "antenna" symbol. ie the place the signal is coming from. Worth checking out, but I'm not flying off on another mystery before we solve this Truther one :)

Organise a gathering point in a nearby system on thread then enter en-masse, if a wing gets interdicted swarm them.
