So a station that includes 'Cooper' in the name I assume.
Dunno if this will be remotely any help, but I figured it's worth a mention. Kohl is a substance used as eyeliner/mascara since ancient history, and has been found across the world. Pulling this from Wikipedia:
He's mentioned his "friends" which fairly obviously refers to the other two pilots from the clues, but since there's been reference to an M class star I was curious as to whether there's any correlation between any of these terms and systems that would fit the bill. I'm not online at the moment so I can't check myself.
Like I say, bit of a long shot but better to mention these things and be wrong than to potentially miss something important. As for me, I'll be hanging around Merope and keeping a close eye on this thread...

I was looking at the logic puzzle at the end of the Hunt Solutions document and "if we have all the information we need", would it be safe to assume that the Asp is the Explorer and therefore the Cobra is the Bounty Hunter?
Given the Asp is a well known explorer type ship and the T9 a well known trading ship.
Ergo Dillon is the bounty hunter?

I sat at the Nav Beacon in Cail for the 10:00 hour (Solo mode), and scanned every ship that passed through.
Zero Type-9 appeared.
Double checked all Asp variants for Yellow, zero.
Never saw the names "red", "yellow", "Dillon", "Grainger", or "Kohl" appear on scanned ships.
Also paid attention to all Type-6 and 7, in case of typo. Nothing.
And watched the Adders, since one was featured in Mr. Braben's video. Nothing interesting.
Went into Supercruise at 10:58, no Type-9 appeared, a couple of Asp but wrong names.
Was the "Red Trader" found in Supercruise, or at a location? If in Supercruise then I guess he had to be interdicted? Unless he dropped somewhere?

Pain in the butt but saw this coming a mile off. Really hope FD have plenty of backups for this kind of event.
As much as I defend open, if these NPCs are able to be killed and then that's it over then they need to rework something.
Already suspected at least. The M Class is likely to be HIP 22182, a permit-locked system nearby.
Although if the guy in Cail DID tell us something useful that suggests it's not a complete red herring.
