So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

So has anyone found any rhyme or reason to the patrol being where it is? I decided to head back to the start of it all and did some math unsuccessfully to try and figure out if there was a point to which the latter 4 (not h&s and the waystations) were roughly equidistant, yet still in EAFOTS.

The problem is, half the points are massively below the galactic plane, or 0 mark. And that's roughly where EAFOTS ends.

Personally, I saw the waypoints and looked at my own position within in EAFOTS...Im almost a thousand ly from the 3 low grav sites and about 800ly from the high grav site...so I'm absolutely nowhere near where this search is taking place. However, I'm still in eafots and the going is great here...lots of ww and a couple elw now...every system, no tags and first discovery. Haven't seen so much as a single player tagged star or planet since getting here 2 days ago...not one.

Not seeing any particular reason to relocate right now...I'm just a lone wolf anyway and will move on when the rest of ye find something...the route out is already ready to be punched in so you lot may get the finger out...getting bored now and the black is calling to me again.

If it help at some point, I'm bookmarking every system I jump into and I'm scanning everything...even the rock balls that are worthless ^^

I've seen a couple with Jake(?) Silver and a few other's in the O/B/A stars, but most everything else is unnamed.

But the waypoints and stations just don't seem to make a lick of sense if we are going with whatever it is that we're looking for being in EAFOTS. It should be down a lot further.

Bright blue light during jump sequence

There is something in the rift. Bright blue light during jump sequence. Never seen it before.

Hey everyone. What's new?

I've been completely out of it for a couple of weeks ... was away on a business trip and then sick with a flu virus.

I've decided I'm not going to try and catch up on the last two weeks posts, so it would be great if someone could kindly update me on anything that should be included in the OP.

Did we find Salomé yet? Anything in EAFOTS?

Well, the Hunt debacle shows exactly the way I DON'T want the Rift mystery to pan out.

Sounds like I haven't missed much :D

We solved it all, but we didn't want you to feel left out, so we've kept it secret.

Absolutely, that was a shocker. Anyway, apart from the events "issues" I think it's a bit sad that in-game resources (pointing the stick at Galnet here) aren't used to kick these events off. People that don't haunt the forums probably still don't know anything has happened.

Burying clues in game convention videos is fine, but after they are solved the same information needs to be published in-game somehow. There's one after the fact article on Galnet and it doesn't include enough info to actually get started, even though starter system was figured out and circulatec on the forum.

Ah I seem to ranting. I just want game material to actually be delivered in-game, basically. Or at least, available in-game.

I absolutely agree!
I've never gotten engaged with the Barnacles story precisely because it requires the use of out-of-game tools to be able to be involved in the investigation. If it wasn't for the Canonn and their Freelance Reports you'd hardly know there was anything happening, since there's been so little information disseminated by FDev.

The problem with the 'issues' is that some of them were completely foreseeable to anyone who's played online games for more than 15 minutes, and the rest were basic failures of communication and/or imagination.

I really hope they learn from this and do things differently next time.
