Dear FD. The hunt begins on the 28th - but ends a few hours later

Why don't ppl just group up, and hunt SDC if they're causing problems for most ppl?

Because SDC are not interested in PvP.
Watch their stream from yesterday. As soon as they dropped into an instance with "a wing of xyz" (didn't get the name, but "the french" is 51th?), they switched out again.
They literally switch instances until they get one full of ASPs they can harass.

But when they make events open only, it will solve nothing

You will have a fair chance by that point, you can have lived in mobius land and got a decent ship with strong engineered shields and fast engines etc and as soon as you are interdicted you can jump away. These guys aren't cheating, they interdict, open fire, type some silly messages. You should always have another system locked so you can press "next system in route" and highwake out.

Simple solution here - do not play in open until FD fixies crime/punishment...

And the heat meta. Right now when a heat meta guy catches you, unless you are massively faster than them, you are toast (almost literally). As soon as the module malfunctions start, you have basically lost, and no amount of armour or shields protects you against it.

This exactly. They're not looking for PvP, they're looking for victims. They are, as was so nicely written before, "Emergent content deliverers"...

I don't mind dying within this game. Because it is stil a game
I do mind dying because of [REDACTED]. His only goal is to do everything a normal player absolutly will not do. (this happened about a week ago)

This is why i Combat logged on his Asp! I admit it, I combat logged on [REDACTED].
This was NOT! pirating. This was NOT! Powerplay. This was, as usual, getting in other peoples way!

For this clip all he got was a 9.000 total credit bounty! REALLY?
The rebuy on this T-9 must be atleast 6.000.000 credits.

I am so dissapointed in FD right now. Today nothing happened to me. I did not even see mister Kohl show up. But i saw his ASP blown out of the sky by a psycho killer who can do what he wants!
This is so unfair!

Dear fd,
Please do something about this. Make him feel the pain of killing to! Not just me but every cmdr he killed
Because in the future i WILL combat log on him and his friends again... and again... and again..

A verry dissapointed Leut
This hunt is over for me :(

It was a total disaster, and flop of biblical proportions! what is it with these events?
First handheld puppet mastering game play is boring and amateurish, if you can't code something in, don't even do it.

A lot of energy to organise friends to get together at ungodly hours so that this could be experienced.

We wasted our time on this "event" what a joke!

Yep! Problem solved. Like no-one would ever have a say against that.

Now tell me why should that only apply to player deaths? And what reward do I get for all that risk? And should I let traders      me in the bum if they please while I shout "Im sorry mister trader I didn't mean it please don't call the authorities".

It applies to players more because all players are members of the Pilots Federation which was created to protect against pilots being killed. Notice how the text below, which comes from FD's own Galnet articles (link), says that the Pilots Federation hands out combat ranks based on the amount of pirates you've killed, not the amount of innocent people you've killed. Personally I think killing other players shouldn't increase your combat rank unless that player is wanted.

"As piracy became more prevalent, the Pilots Federation started issuing bounties on known pirate vessels. Some of those outside the organisation condemned the initiative as bloodthirsty, but few were able to argue with the impact it had on piracy. Shortly thereafter, the Pilots Federation introduced an official ranking system to reflect the number of combat victories achieved by each of its members. Pilots who accumulated the largest number of kills were awarded the title of Elite – a citation that became highly coveted among independent pilots."

The risk is that you can, if you want, still try to kill other players. You can hide in anarchy systems and kill players there if you want. Kill a player in a policed system they hide with your pirate psycho cronies in an un-policed system until the heat wears off. Who knows, by the time you're waiting for you wanted meter to drop (remember I suggested 1 week per player kill) you might decide to try playing some other way. besides, there's nothing stopping you from moving between other anarchy systems and PvPing the other PvPers who'll be hiding there. You wouldn't get a wanted level in an anarchy system and you can play the as much as you want there.

This isn't a system designed just to protect traders, I'm not a trader and neither are many others, it's a system designed to protect law abiding players from being targeted by pirates who's only goal is to kill anything that moves. Besides, traders mostly want to be left alone. If you don't shoot at them, then there'd be no need for for the authorities to get involved. Shooting and not killing would not be a crime (unless you're attacking security ships), as friendly fire does happen. But shooting and killing a player should carry much stiffer penalties than it does now.

Finally. There's still a way for people to get PvP kicks by taking bounty missions to hunt down player pirates. Those missions should pay well to encourage proper PvP.

Stop being a victim, team up with friends and fight back, you might even have fun. It's called Elite Dangerous for a reason. There are no safe spaces in the galaxy, that's true for the griefers too.

Does anyone actually know what the op is talking about. He's obviously angry, and I realise that there was a mystery 28th hunt on. But all I could make out from what he said was Asp, T9, combat log, and psycho killer. The rest seemed a bit incoherent. I'm guessing someone tried to (or actually did) gank him while he was in a T9, which he was using to participate in solving the mystery?

Whilst I completely understand that intelligent responses may have to be confined to Open for obvious reasons (FDEV can't exactly force their way into Solo or Private groups to interact with players) the problem lies with the type of people who are interested in these mysteries.

From what I've seen (myself included) the type of people who love to investigate these mysteries mostly play on Private or Solo due to the hostile nature of Open whenever a specific location is discovered or announced. Griefing, gankers, "roleplayers" or however you want to call it will naturally be lurking in those areas because they find it entertaining.

The current game mechanics allow for this, so I don't blame the CMDR's that take it upon themselves to shoot everyone entering the system (even though I think it's not exactly sportsmanlike, but that's just my opinion). The problem is, when that particular type of player hangs out in Open, the other type of player who loves to get involved in these mysteries ends up very frustrated and unwilling to join Open, as it can be expected they're going to be met with a rather unfriendly welcome.

What may need to be implemented is some sort of harsher crime response/punishment only for systems mentioned in CG's or special events like this, to make random acts of violence more difficult to accomplish. This restriction would then be removed after the event is over, so the cutthroat nature of Open can continue. That lets the more reluctant players in Solo more of a chance to get involved in Open when Frontier forces their hand with events like this.

Of course, if I had it my way there would be an Open (PvP) and Open (PvE) like Mobius, but that's been debated for ages now!

They can its called an NPC, should be easy to create a static (weapons trader style) NPC which when dropped into the instance will shout some message.

Read the UAs, Barnacles and stuff mega-thread. The last 200 pages should be enough, or the second posting on the first page.

FD made an even in Open where FD employees played CMDRs (in a Cobra, Asp and T-9) handing out "important" information about some mystery something sounding very important to the story.

The "quest giver" in a T-9 got destroyed by players who enjoy ruining the game for others.
FD completely failed to handle the event.
Instancing was terrible - as usually.

In short FD delivered, again, an epic fail.

Again .. there is no "fighting back". As soon as they face any serious opposition, they cheese it and simply switch to another instance.
It's as lame as it gets, so stop defending that as "PvP".
There were several PvP groups in that system. I saw some 51th Massilia, 13th legion and some more that were in my instance alone .. one of their commanders tried to interdict me and when he noticed that I'm actually quite good at not getting interdicted he sent me a friendly message and we parted .. that was actually my highlight of that event. So no, open is not "all bad", but some individuals are utterly unable to play there and all they can come up with is peeing in the pool.

Instead of logging, you can actually use the same lameo tactic they use and just get another instance (by forcing a server sync .. low wake, drop into an USS or station, High wake in and out) until they're gone. That's not solving the overall issue of party pooping, though.
FD might have gotten that message, since it nearly foiled their event - but I guess they didn't.

and it's not called Elite Dangerous for the reason your implying. Again people do not understand the meaning of the game name. If I had a £ :D

Thanks for the info, makes a bit more sense now.
