Nothing fits that bill within 40 ish ly, at least nothing with just a single M class and no other star in the system, of course it might be further out, 40ly is not very far in explorer terms, its less than 1 max jump for the ship I took out there, So i'll widen the net, but I'm waiting for more clues to trickle in

Next time I log into that alt I'm searching systems with only 1 M class but other classes of star with 10 planets and then I'll explore the rest of the systems just because I'm out there

Scanned around 15 M systems around j0737, without results.

So many permutations, I mean all the clues are vaguer than the ramblings of a person under sedation but that could be any combination of things in a system really as long as it includes the M class and whatever else was specified and is near binary pulsars. Bodies can be moons, planets, gas giants, other suns.... we need to pop more clues :(

If you go the easy way, yes. But if you try the double pulsar thing the possibilities are very rare.

Never mind.
I go there by myself.

Having time to reflect, I'm left with a different outlook on the events of the 28th and I must thank FD for the efforts. With the mechanics we have in place and based upon events in the past how could we not realize just what this hunt would entail. I believe the anger and outrage, some perhaps warranted, stem from the mere fact of feeling left out because we didn't encounter the contact personally. This wasn't a scavanger hunt, where everybody gets to get a clue, no, this was simply a hunt and while, yes, some sort of exciting climax to day 1 of the hunt would have been nice, knowing that it wasn't done in just one day and that their is still more to come is exciting. I too hated the fact that I didn't get to find any of the special contacts but the expeirence of being surrounded by all those CMDR's, all with the same purpose was thrilling. Chatting as each second counted down till the next appearnace and next clue, the linked picture sums it up for me. I met some cool CMDR's, had some fun conversations and when got a rush the each time the countown hit 0 and we were off to see if we would be the ones lucky enough to catch the contact. In this regard the hunt was a success, it got the community together, gave us some puzzles and set up a path to getting the secret instead of everything culimnating in one day. It may not be ideal and for some the OPEN aspects were a burden, but as someone who mostly plays SOLO, I enjoyed my journey into open and in fact am currently in OPEN and intend to stay that way. I feel we could benefit from monthly or annual hunts or community events like this, apart from the regular CG's that go on. Yes, it sucks that I didn't get the initial clues but, even this CG we are currently working on now give me that feeling of adventure and something mysterious to find. The added bonus of making some good money in the mean time is great. I'll finally be able to afford my PYTHON and I know by the end of this whole hunt I will have some fun experiences that no other game may present. I'll meet some more cool CMDRS and in the end, a new expansion and alien gameplay will be a fair reward. So chin up, hopefully FD can take some lessons from this hunt and improve upon the next aspects. Fly safe CMDR's.

Sure, the more the merrier, but please consider it doen't have to be a system with just one M star, or if that's a lie who knows. As for "Near" what do you class as near in exploration terms, for me it's withint 200 ly but if you see the amount of M class stars out that way you will understand why I'm not searching them all with partial info which may or may not contain a lie.

There has been enough jumping the gun recently

When it's resolved a little more then I'll search, but if you get bored out there message me and I'll wing with you.....and if you turn in any of the earth likes I noticed on the way out there I will hunt you down and shoot you :p (jest)

Are we assuming that 2 of the 3 people always tell the truth?
I think we have to otherwise all the clues become pointless.

Based on that I think it's most likely that Dillon is the liar:
- Logan Kohl (Red Trader), found in Cail at 10:00, told us "One of my friends always lies. The system has a single M-class star." He also offered a second clue in exchange for narcotics.
- Mahina Dillon, found in Apademak at 15:00, told us "I visited a rocky planet at latitude 34 near binary pulsars." She also offered a second clue in exchange for tobacco.
- Otto Granger found in Apademak at 21:00, saying"I visited a system with 10 bodies and one sun. after the incident I woke up in a system far away." He asked to bring him Lavian Brandy in Scott Orbital, to give us some other clues.

Kohl isn't lying and states a single M-class star.
Granger confirms that with his 'one sun'.
Making Granger the liar requires a bit more work by assuming that Kohl left something out: 'a single M-class star' plus other stars that he didn't mention.

Therefore, we should probably treat Dillon's clue as NOT statements:
- not a rocky planet
- not at latitude 34
- not near binary pulsars

Which leaves us an awful lot of candidates:
- A single 'M' class star.
- 10 planetary bodies (including satellites).
- Anything with at least 1 non-rocky landable (although this assumes that we need to land which is not confirmed by Kohl or Granger yet).

'The truth' could maybe be found by luck but this is a pretty wide search and the extra clues should help narrow it down.

I'm not sure I'd go any further than identifying candidate systems - do we have a list for that?

If there isn't a list, I've made one:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IM-8hIa1zsgz3iQ9uwPdymm7qQmHdEynG243AD0sTsY/edit#gid=0
I think Pic Tok fits the criteria, but I don't have a system map to link yet or a distance - can anyone confirm that it fits.

i feel like maybe kohl's second clue will be enough to find the location

There's a lot of smart people here, but I very much doubt FD is going to let that happen. Perhaps we'll get lucky and find it, but then what do we do until 2.2? Grind....
