Enemy ships disappear

So I got tired of enemy ships disappearing when using one laser there's not enough time to generate enough damage before they use hypdedrive or phase shift drive to escape; and I read in another thread that the object was to keep them in the asteroids.... So; I've been playing at the resource extraction site near chango dock.

When a enemy ship starts to leave the field, and run away, I let them go now... no point in chasing something that will just run away; but apparently they can leave masslock, start the drive charging, and then come back into mass lock and attack me... so I get them on the run again, and they disappear in the middle of the field! Well so much for being clever.

Shouldn't they just automatically explode or something if the drive activates in a masslock region? Then I should get credit for the kill.

This has happened 5 or 6 times now... so I tested it; and ya, I can leave masslock region, start charging the drive, head back into combat and then warp away at some point later.

Can you sub target their drive to slow or disable escape?

Yes, I recently started doing this; not sure it will help since I'm rarely close enough to actually target to that...

The ship I last fought that disappeared in the middle of asteroids I had a subtarget on his PSD...

i had the same thing going on! try putting another laser on.. now that i have 3, they actually blow up! and i get credit.. but i feel ur pain!

This. Jumping in/out animations are forthcoming and the disappearing acts are just that. The NPCs AI has a low tolerance for damage and they tend to back-out quickly; just like players. ;)

They do cheat somewhat though as it appears that mass lock has no effect on their performance.

takes as long to kill the drive as the hull.... and that's way too long for them to escape.

I've lost sooo many enemy ships that were trapped in the middle of the asteroid field. And there are only a few times I've run into other players at the time I play in the place I haunt... so I don't think it's because they were somewhere else.

I have seen very laggy ships that get only occasional updates ... one even stopped lagging, and popped 2k away from its position... but it was killable.

When enemies just pop out with a small burst they go off target too. It probably is supercruise; but for sure they ignore masslock. (PLZ FIX?)

Same here

but have nothing to do with other players nearby...

I cant earn some Money...
when i find good stuff, i cant sell it at market or black market, it just blocks my Cargo space.
its found, not stolen!^^
An Npc threatened me to leave my cargo for him. I attack him. I got 100 Credits Bounty on my head...oO His Hull state goes under 19% and kabooom. 300 Credits on my head =) i am a Murderer now. VVTF??
I try to earn money as bountyhunter...but as you said... the hostile ships disappear.

I'm going back to work in the fields^^

I've found teh conflict zones in Eranin are best now; the market crashed the first day. When you go to a cnoflict zone, you have to select faction (right side panel, where toggles for gear etc are) You don't get credit for assists... but about 50% of the ships you can get the kill shot on... best if you can put on a second laser so you can alternate fire, then you have twice the chance to land the kill blow.

Had a couple of pilots up and vanish on me when I got near to exploding them.

I just assume FD have created artificial intelligence so advanced that even the NPC's hack.

Dirty cheats, that's what they are!

People pilots? (hollow triangles?)

I think I can save and quit and get out. Exploit for sure

No, NPCs. You get them down to below half shields and if you don't finish them off quick they just... vanish.

The only people pilot I've come across (that I noticed anyway) was in Azeban docking bay apparently trying to grind the inside smooth. Seriously he/she was banging around the place like a steel spatula in a tumble drier. Watched them grind across my designated docking bay, shrugged and landed.

ya roll correction is really required in docking; doesn't have any bearing outside... but if you toggle the wrong option you might not know what you did :)

They don't warp away in the conflict zones...(they can run quite far) and in other zones the rules they have for warping away are not the same. Wouldn't think that would be a huge change to implement...

indiction ; for instance... don't think they count my ship as a mass disturbance... but in asteroid fiends (resource collection sites) they don't pay attention to the asteroids as mass blocking.... I thought myabe it was just they had warped away and engaged their engines... maybe they didn't go through the 'throttle up' phase... so just cruised around forever with it chaged and then warp in the middle of the field, but I've kept them from leaving entirely and they still warp away.
