Twice insta-killed without being shot:(

Hi folks.

New to forum but been playing PB since it was released yesterday.

I've come across two excruciatingly frustrating moments now where i've been insta-killed and lost a lot of creds :(

the first was yesterday when I was super cruising to a trading station... i was gunna over shoot but was most certainly NOT headed straight for the space station when I emergency dropped out of supercruise... after a minute or two of being stuck on exit (i've read that's common) I was spawned into the system and instantly... and i mean INSTANTLY obliterated. Didn't hit anything... wasn't interdicted... nothing... just BOOM. and after 5 ish hours of trading too :( lost the lot as i was carrying cargo worth my value at the time so reset was in order.

second time, I was fighting for the Feds. i forget the location but it was a federal distress call... picked the feds as my side... there were two or three big "star destroyers" for want of a better word... swarming with friendly fighters.. one or two red enemies.. and i get absolutely insta killed while flying close to the star destroyer (no proxy alarm... close, but not THAT close) and no red enemies at that moment on default radar zoom.

it's really disheartening after all these hours learning and graduating from the newb academy to have hours of playtime annihilated for what apparently seems absolutely no reasons at all.

I really hope this is a known bug and the devs are working on it

I fixed it for you.
;)

Seriously though, sometimes stuff like this does happen. It is a beta and we've had this and much, much more through the alpha. The best thing you can do is raise a support ticket to let the devs know exactly what happened. It should not have happened so make sure they know that it did.
Put as much detail in there as you can.
Here's the ticketing system: https://support.orerve.net/

Already!? But you've only been playing for a couple of days. You are barely out of first grade! ;)

As Commander Dave said, just report what you see via the ticketing system. If you have the facility to record game footage its worth doing this as you can then go back and review what happened and this will aid you in reporting your findings to Fronter.

I'm a quick study, and certainly not new to flight/space sims. I may only be running a Thrustmaster T Flight HOTAS but if does me just fine :D

i'm certainly not up there with you Alpha guys... yet :p but I did enjoy being a wingman to a couple of human players while fighting for the feds though which was great fun :D

thanks for the super fast responses though. I dont have any video recordings.. methinks i'll run Xsplit for my adventure tomorrow so i've something to show.

i realise it's beta but never being able to get anything other than an extra pulse laser before some glitch blowing me up leaves a bitter taste :(

There should only ever be one 'star destroyer' in that scenario. If there are two or more - BE WARY! The physics engine glitches out occasionally, making multiple ships 'spasm' - and perfectly capable of swatting you out of the sky with no warning if you are close.

If you see two (or more) big ships in that scenario, stay at least 2km away from the grouping, and be prepared for massive frame rate drops.

I see. Thanks for that.

There were two right next to each other and at really odd angles. I guess that must've been the problem that i intersected a ship that wasn't there and the system got confused or something so picked death as my outcome

Now if I can only find a way of avoiding insta-death when emergency exiting supercruise

next time you die and you dont want to lose your cargo or ship or weapons , wait until it gives you the option to choose insurance or get a free ship. then without choosing, hit alt tab and close the game from the windows task manager. it will crash and close. when you re login the game you will be where you died with your ship weapons and cargo intact. :)

now thats a nice bug!! :D
