My 1st human interdiction &

I messed it up :D.

CG for narcotics heading to bluford Gateway to deliver : I had just exited hyper drive (sun) & bang interdiction from a wing of 3 big ships the outmaneuvering was not working to my advantage so i submitted immediately boosting, heat sinking and chaffing which took awhile as my hands would not do what i wanted & had become heavy. I think i looked like a fish flopping about on the ground & i do not think it will be shown on video sites as the major fight of that year it lasted for about 15 seconds. Oh well .

After blankly staring at the rebuy screen for a minute or five & buying the "correct load" i re bought my stash i planned a route back and this time being a smart Cmdr i went the long way around and came in through the other side. (seemed logic). This time eyes were beady & hands steady as i entered the dreaded system but again an immediate interdiction by the same 3 wing pirate band and pretty much the same scenario for my hands. That was the end of my adventure for tonight the rebuy is too much and i now only have enough to insure one last time so i will not waste it on the same 3 wing pirate team. :p Time to do a few trade runs and (just) a quick 1 hour in private for the CG..I play in open but no more money so "cut throat galaxy" mans got to do what a man's etc... but i will be back.. soon.tm. for sure, two weeks most.

Guess i was wondering is it always that fast? as i am new and do not pvp at all i have the impression if i did turn and fight it would of been the same quick disposal of wanabe drug trader me. I was using the asp which is pretty much A graded with a few hull reinforcements/all hard points used and seems ok in certain encounters and can stand up for itself.

To finalize it was fun (for them) and i understand that cg's are about goals between factions and there is a forum discussion about it..(my view is one side has a goal & the other is to stop them so all is fair in this sense) as for open closed not getting into it as too complicated. Tonight i came away with a virtual lack of faith not because of the game but because some people will just do things to ruin it for others more so as today was about reaching a goal to further the whole community.. nuff said.

Anyway back too grinding and getting better :p being a noob is cool cos we always discover new things, apart from that no problems a good game and very immersive once one gets the hang of it.

Thanks for reading.. Roberts[hotas]

P.S This is in no way aimed at PVPr's this is aimed at that minor majority who always have to burst the ball cos they didn't get invited. grumble.shuffles off, sigh.

Maybe they don't want people to sell drugs. Drugs are bad remember lol.

It's hard for anyone to outfight 3 Players intent on killing you. Yeah, if they have engineered weapons (which they all do now) it takes about that long to see the re-buy screen. Best thing to do is really really attempt to run away and fast. A trick you can use is that if you see players in Super Cruise and they look rather like a group of thugs about to get you, drop down to normal space, quickly charge FSD, wait for them to drop down to you and then hit boost. They can't follow you right away into super cruise and you can get away.

Maybe we should start bringing security to these CGs and other events. =/ The problem with the "PvP" crowd is that they don't want PvP. I have seen some of their streams from the people doing this. they kill the traders and then run like      es when other people attack them. They are not doing this for PvP or any other reason. They are doing this because they enjoy ruining other peoples games. If your going to PvP then at least PvP.

Over on the xbox, you tend to find that those who do play the bad guys (has to be bad guys for there to be good guys) will mercilessly kill any ships in a system whether it be a type 6, a shieldless conda or a fully battle fit vette. We were destroying anyone that wasn't empire at Morai on Xbox and after a while we started getting some cracking pvp battles against PBSF and Exo. One point there was 7 or 8 of them (handful of stealth FDLs, few pythons and corvettes) against 4 of us - we had a Cutter (me), 2 Clippers and stealth fdl and chased em all away :)

To the OP, Cmdr Roberts.

Firstly, don't in any way feel bad for telling us about all this. The game is quite immersive and your first PvP is something we all remember. I know I do.

Secondly, about the way it went down: well, you boosted, used a heat sink and chaff, so pretty good. I remember what you mean about the fear factor.

Thirdly, about the rebuy: recently, things changed a bit in ED. In all versions of ED prior to 2.1 I would have told you what you needed to do to escape. I've actually written some quite detailed guides on that subject, albeit on private player group servers. Escape used to be kind of a given, if you knew what you were doing.

However, as the game is now, post 2.1, there is absolutely nothing you could have done. It's to do with power creep but, essentially, from the moment that wing completed that interdiction on your Asp, you were deader than dead.

Sorry for your losses. Good job sticking it out and coming back.

May I ask, what is the total shield strength rating on that Asp?

Na :D My rant was more at those who run away from fights and just chase and kill unarmed traders because why not. I got not problems with real PvPers and look forward to the interactions.

Not in game think about 329 am using A grade shield generator and the highest shield booster in the utility slot. Bit too early for all the engineering thing but will definitely go into PVP with more experience under the belt.

Thanks for the response all, yep i have been studying up and am slowly getting there, the OP was a humorous way of looking at my misfortune in being ganked repeatedly and causing my bankruptcy, unfair pirates are not fair:D and should be chased down and punished for cowardly acts. Also add crimes against the majority as the CG had no enemy's and was for the whole community. Being serious no real problem as in all games need to learn and get better and its always good to win in pvp, guess i rely to much on the old skool days when even in game there was at least some form of honor as the community was quite small and you would frequently see other known player's in other games/forums and around the net.. rep counted and was noted by you're peers..

A lot of younger gamers forget that just up until a few yr"s ago the major company"s released a game two updates later it was done with that game it was up to us the community to map/skin/mod games create new content while creating tournaments leagues ladders and even the community's, now the company's have taken that and the whole industry has changed including the gaming community.... Unfortunately I am all for "you show who you are by your in game play and reputation" in such that sure you the lvl 90 can kill that lvl 2 player you do as you wish, but personally i would not want that player on my team or anywhere near me simply because their actions show who they are but hey thats just me. old skoolz.

cheers all, again no problem just had to write the post, kind of a "ah the old day's".

Roberts

P.S nathdixon92, The pirates said exactly the same thing "that drugs were bad" and offered to take & destroy them for me. they even asked for gas money which was understandable seeing as the incinerator was quite far away.

Nice story OP, you`ve got balls :)

I remmember my first PvP encounter very well... I was in my "finally all A specced" Viper mkIII... And I interdicted a clipper... I chatted "Hello, i have not yet done any PvP, do you want to dance?"... Reply: "sure thing :)" ...

And the "dance started" ... my shields were down in 10 seconds and I quickly found out, that Viper won`t outrun a clipper... Nice rebuy screen moments after that :)

I am much more cautious since then ! I was always able to escape PvPers, who wanted me dead...
But no more now, with engineers...

As cmdr. TrueSilver wrote, engineers have changed everything. There is really nothing you can do now to escape.

It's very unlikely you'll ever beat a wing of 3 unless you're in the top percentage of skilled pilots, it has been done but not often.

You seem to understand the interdiction escape and run mechanic.... maybe try using mine launchers with your chaff and defence as when running they work well against players and NPC's. 2 or 3 mine launchers with a shock mine launcher can do wonders. As others have said you'll need to keep an eye out in super cruise in the future but that's the dangers of OPEN I'm afraid. Other than becoming Jedi like or recruiting wing mates nothing you'll be able to do.

1. Make sure you have crime reports turned on and the police may come and help in higher security systems but that means you need to stay alive long enough to be able to get help.
2. Keep an eye out in supercruise and have a hyperspace destination locked most wings wont he wake scanners to follow you.
3. Drop out of supercruise and jump back in before they interdict you that way they'll suffer FSD cool down if they go into the low wake meaning you can get distance on them in supercruise before they can lock on again.
4. If your near a planet you can try and use the gravity well to slow them down but this takes skill as you don't want to get caught yourself.

You have my respect for not raging, quitting or combat logging!

Few extra things to remember for the next encounter, thanks all :)

I had read up on most of the PVP things to do but when i was attacked i really did fluff it up there were just too many buttons and not enough fingers.. next time i get them all :D. I only had about 4 million in the bank and with a 1;5 million rebuy each time quickly put me out of action so now its time to grind back up as i am down to exactly 1.5 million so one rebuy left. Even as a new player combat logging does seem a lame thing to do & rage quitting would help for about an hour but you always have to return and sheepishly tell everyone that you are back.

There are quite a few posts on the forum about preparing for space and the dangers of open so one should come prepared i'm all for space is open filled with all sorts of IRL characters who project there avatar characters as they wish be it paladin to psycho socio path, More so in Faction conflicts or Faction Cg's.. when in doubt best to wing up, prepare and be sneakier than the pirates.

Fly safe o7.

P.S death to unfair pirates :D

SO i'm intrigued and apologies for being ignorant.

What is PVP and is there actually finally some incentive for people to kill each other in this game? I don't mind having to worry about being killed, it would make the game actually dangerous and fun. I just want the people doing the killing to have an actual motive so there's some kind of economy to the whole thing.

Where can I learn more about pvp?

There is no financial economy to PvP in ED. The maximum player-recoupable bounty payout is 1,000,000 credits and the only Cmdrs to whom that sum is more than trivial would struggle to secure the kill.

However, there are many role-play or gaming incentives to PvP, some of the most common including:

- Fighting for, or against, a particular Powerplay power

- Joining a player group and defending a particular system or pursuing other group objectives

- Pirating traders

- Looking for Wanted Cmdrs

- Taking a RP stance on a Galactic issue like slavery or smuggling

- Looking for 1v1 duels either randomly or via occasional player-organised tournaments

- As above in wings

- Blowing up other Cmdrs for the lulz

Depending on where your interests lie, you might consider visiting one of the Powerplay subreddits, finding a PvP player group, or interdicting someone and shooting at them.

Being A rated in open means nothing nowadays.

Ye got 2 options.. mod it like there is no tomorrow, or go solo/privategroup..

Not pirates. A pirate would ask for cargo and give you some time to comply, because pirates steal and find alternative ways of making money. They didn't steal anything from you, they didn't make a penny by killing you, those were not pirates.

Got it thanks for the excellent overview.
