Other Ways To Get Ships?

Hi all,

I'd really like other ways to get the more expensive ships. I don't have the time or patience to grind out hundreds of millions of credits. I also missed the recent community goal.

Maybe we could get a quest that appears for a mission chain after you have a certain amount of hours logged in the game. Maybe 50-100 hours would be a fair number?

I'm forever stuck in the cheaper ships and can't play the game how i would like. For example:

I'm a Premium Backer and can't really use the headline feature of the upcoming 2.2 patch which i've paid for. Ship launched fighters. All the decent ships that can do this are well out of my price range. The one that can do it is so limited, i wouldn't want to leave my Cobra MKIII for it.

This will just make people keep their client on indefinitely while they sleep/go to work/school etc and achieve nothing else.

Though the idea of being able to gain access to ships by other than spending money on it, for instance hijacking, ship boarding, salvaging an abandoned ship etc is quite appealing. May the devs look into this opportunity in the future.

not convincing
Your patience - or rather lack of it, is not a reason for the drastic changes in the game

I'm not saying i want the ships for nothing or no hard work, but maybe other methods that are not a grind. I can't do thousands of cargo runs. I would go nuts.

You gotta be trolling right? How can this be a concern when you could go out to a long range site, do a few missions and be in an Asp the same afternoon? Making money in this game is easy. In 50-100 hours you could/should be in an Anaconda.

The keelback will be able to launch fighter and is the budget friendliest choice.
If you don't mind me asking, what do you normally do in-game?

I have made quite a lot of money bounty hunting and even earned 50 million mining. Between long range smuggling missions, stacking combat zone missions, plain bounty hunting in res sites or even piracy for low temperature diamonds, you can make large sums in relatively short amounts of time.

Let me know what you enjoy doing in ED and maybe I and other can come up with some tips for you to earn money faster.

Plenty of combat CG's pay extremely well. Just follow the cops and shoot what they shoot.

As much I'd hate myself to death by saying this: Then I guess Elite is not the game for you, friend...

Smuggling from the distant frontiers.
Discounts on the modules and the ships at the "Chinese"

If you're patient and keep an eye out, you just have to wait for the right opportunities to appear.

Even without CGs throwing around hundreds of millions, there are a lot of them which pay dozens of millions, and once there was one who gave a 30% discount on ships and outfitting.

Some CGs also give massive amounts of profit just for selling stuff (not counting the final prize).

50-100 hours of random missions (anything you fancy), could easily get the dosh for a ship upgrade. What're you flying currently?

I have always been an advocate of being able to get the ship of your choice faster / sooner, so I might just as well post here. From my suggestions in the past:

- credit loans

Give me the ship now, let me earn money and enjoy flying it, make me pay 10 times the price for it.

- lower ship costs, higher maintenance / running costs

What if an Anaconda were to cost just 50mil, but you'd have to pay 1mil eveytime you docked (call it a large ship docking fee)?

- ship lending

Let me fly a ship for a short period of time for large enough rental costs, send *ZA ENTERDICTIONS* after me when I don't bring it back. [cool]

- mission ships

Want me to fight in that CZ? Better give me a Vulture. Yes, I know about instant ship transfer. No, I don't have a Vulture of my own to instantly transfer here. *hangs up the comms

- black market ships

So no one really though of buying a Cutter and putting it on sale at an Anarchy port for 1billion?

Why not ? I mean, after The Easyneers, ships teleportation, SOTHIS and the half billion credits CG, honestly, they might as well give the ships for free.
It is not like money has any value any more anyway.

So OP, Premium backer, meaning could have played since Gamma - you must be resetting you save loads ..

Same game since start. It was a slog to finally get my Imperial Courier. I had to keep refreshing the mission boards hundreds of times for my Rep. I just refuse to do the same thing over and over and over again after that.

Half a billion? That's insane - why does stuff like that always happen when I don't play, lol?

Tell me about it. The worst part is when you do get wind of it before it ends, but it's really close to the end and you have to hurry to contribute, so you jump in your car and drive home really fast, with the phone in one hand keeping an eye on discord to see the progress in real time, but then you don't pay attention to the road, and you ding the car, and you have to go to the police, and when you finally get home the wife is mad, so you have to explain what happened to her, and by the time you start your computer, the CG ended and it was all for nothing.

you shouldn't need to, just playing the game semi-regular since then doing whatever should have netted you millions of credits
