So the most important thing to me, now that I have seen it is;
I feel we can be very sure that this is the object from Bran Interview Interruption 4. Not the exact one, but the same ship class.
The piece of debris that is stuck vertical has the same 'Christmas Tree'-style tapered shape that shows up in the Interruption. Almost like a leaf.
Thank our stars this one is dead.
edit: This thing really gives me goosebumps. It is massive and we know it won't (necessarily) be friendly.
My big worry is: What if these huge, scythe-like limbs ARE the weapons? What if this is a bio-mechanical war beast that has the technical navigation and computation ability of spacefairing craft but takes a brutal, hands-on approach to destruction?
Either that, or the 'Eye' is a weapon hardpoint and these things are remote piloted.

Just imagine living in our real world, and imagine we discovering the wreck of an Alien ship somewhere in space, on Mars for example.
Yes, that would be the most important discovery in the whole history of humanity, don't you agree?
The same happened in the Game we play, where we IMAGINE to live in the future of our real life world.
The same happens in a movie called Alien, where they find an Alien Ship for the first time in (their imagined) world.
But not many people have imagination, then perhaps we can IMAGINE that ED is not a game for them.
What I see instead, is the Beginning of something new and interesting for the game we love.
I was busting balls take it easy, I see what is going on and I applaud all you guys for the effort and FD`s carrot, donkey, stick approach.
I love ED as much as most of you but, its still sterile compared to Elite and FFE.
2.2 best make me afraid of jumping and gets me on my toes like Elite did. I want that witch space feeling of, am I really going to make it.

so now we continue to study all the alien stuff to date, watch galnet, find salome and see what else unknown probes can do
so if the arms/wings were attached then inverted into the ground would it look like a barnacle
This. I also hear some chittering, almost static like sound, quite short, only a 2-3 seconds, very quiet, you need to focus to hear it, from my observation its only in debug camera mode.
My srv is sitting on top of the hole structure

Not the spires at least. The barnacles look more like aquatic arthropods while this like a flying one. Could be from the same planet but different living conditions. Barnacles are also 6 sided where this is 8.

I mean it looks old to me.
Also in VR it has a sort of underwater feel to the whole thing, like the object is aged stone or bone with lichen of some sort.
Once word gets out the military are going to be all over this.

I have a crazy theory.
What if this ship was in space and came across a UP that was signalling it to come back home to Merope and on its way back it got shot down.
Or it could be that maybe this ship is infact thargoid and stumbled across a UP that it recognised of being from another species. It found the UP was pointing to Merope and went to investigate but the UP corroded the thargoid ship and brought it down or it got shot down.
Dunno just popped to my head and wanted to share, who knows.

I genuinely think this will kick off 2.2
The Feds/Empire will come to the wreckage and fight over it. Then the owners will come back to take what is theirs and beat us back to our borders.
Possibly. It definitely looks 'soft' and weaker than literally every other piece of debris. I don't think that part is meant to take hits.

As i even said a while ago this could also be what was launching the UAs and UPs for maybe possibly survays or feul collection then trowing barnacle eggs or whatever to collect and this hole could be its launcher even who knows

Nice pics. At first, I thought the things on the ground were rocks. Then I looked closer and realized they are actually people's faces that have been blown off from looking at the images on their screens.
Yup, and if you're in turret mode the sound also changes as you look at different parts too. I also bumped into the middle of the back end and my turret stowed by itself too. Probably automatic but its never done that to me before. Cool sounds, very eerie.
Had to do it in solo, no chance of getting anywhere near it in the open instance I was in.
Sadly I don't have any capture software installed. I was with another commander called Joeeee or something. He was doing something to the ship and he asked me if I saw it as well, and I did. Shortly I after I pressed shift tab to get the overlay up to get on the forums and bloody boosted into the ground leaving me with 2% hull integrity. Made a trip back to Obsidian Orbital, repaired and then when I got back to the system, some absolute whopper in a fer de Lance interdicted me and blew me up. Bye 2.2 million credits and about 1 million in exploration data /sigh. Knew there was a reason I don't play in open.
