Hidden stations for pirates?

If I had to guess, I would say that the Devs will be soon looking at Crime and Punishment. As part of that...I got to thinking about how every station and outpost is blatently obvious. Given that pirates can even get battlecruisers, they *must* have some stations of their own...so where are they?

So, what if there were "hidden" pirate stations, by that I mean they would be hidden in rings, astroid belts, etc to avoid being discovered, and once you gained enough pirate reputation, the coordinates would be "unlocked".

Now, they could of course be discovered by regular players noticing low wakes in SC, but that would be half the fun (and smart bounty hunters might look for these locations, as they would essentially be combat zones, where they very well might be the only "green" ship, and the chance for finding player bounties would go up).

This would give pirate players a semi-safe haven to get repairs, rearm, etc, if the lawful stations start denying access to high-notoriety pirates.

Would be nice to see some base variety like this.
I recall there being pirates hidden in asteroids in the original game, they were cool.

PS. Where is my Krait ☺

Yea they should have an updaye called the dark side where they address piracy amd crim and punishment and pirate bases proper smuggling and black market trading all these things!

Im guessing when we get ship to ship bording?

What happens when we board a ship and they. Combat Log? There are ways to help fight combat logging, even if they are less than perfect

..with a great big, rotating, fluorescent skull hologram outside, with the theme tune to Captain Pugwash cranked up to 11 blaring out!

..yep, FD know a thing or two about clandestine behaviour!

I still dont get why the ship doesnt just stay there unpiloted if they combat log.. bad connection? Boo hoo get better internet! I think combat logging happens way more than internet cut outs during combat. But it wouldnt if you knew you would just be leaving your ship a sitting duck for 30s to a minute.

If you bord the ship and they combat log then the pilot dissappears.. the ship is yours and they have to speak to there insurance broker when they come back to the game.

Op:

I don't think crime needs an update, I think Piracy does. (I'm not really very conversant with "griefing" so I'm not including that in my opinion. ) There are many threads discussing how to make it better. Some of the ideas are awesome.

With regards Pirate bases though, they sort of already exist. These days the smart Pirates work the BGS to raise factions up who are considered anarchic (Cartels and such).

Only they aren't secret. There on Galmap because I'm guessing they still need deliveries of loo roll and such. Bit difficult to order a delivery for the water cooler if you ain't on the map. (Hey Piracy is a business these days, deal with it)

Regarding Capitol ships, we haven't seen shipyards yet. I guess they are coming "soon".

I will accept pirate base installations so long as those installations can be targeted and blown to dust.
I for one would have no qualms dumping a full complement of missiles, mines, cannon shells or super-heated plasma on a building full of them, preferably while they slept.

Imagine scanning that small moon at the edge of the system and finding out that is not (a moon that is). :D

Oh, and... Death to all Pirates!

Great idea.

But for those following my low wake, I want the ability to perma mine my base entrance with a path through that only I know!

There are outpost stations that fly the pirate flag in the bubble. Rumors suggest that they may not let you in if you have upset them?

Well, that escalated quickly.

I like the concept :) aka pirate hunter

Yup, this or something like this would be great. The game needs a structure to let people be violent and aggressive in a fun and rewarding way.

It been suggested before. What I hope is the Passenger ships. They might bring us to Hidden bases. Pirate or not.
