Boom biowaste - unique goods that can't be replaced?

Seeing lots of boom biowaste 'missions' in Sol right now.. these goods are unique, and cannot be replaced, apparently.

Is prefixing the word "boom" to everthing supposed to add gravitas or something? All i see is boom this, boom that. Maybe it's something to do with having every star smashed in your face? Although that always struck me as more of a 'bosh'.

"Boom" as in boom-time for biowaste? But then why's it "unique" if there's so much of it?

They're offering thousands of creds for delivering it to space stations etc., one shudders at the scatalogical horror scenes that might greet any commander daring enough to wander past the loading bay upon delivery..

Can't economic activity just ebb and flow without further fragmenting every last detail into blown up into a specially-framed 'thing' in it;s own right - like supercruise and orbital cruise and glide mode and interdiction mode and escape vector mode, all with their accompanying neon signs, sirens and confetti bombs..

So if economic "boom" is now a separate specially-designed thing, what about "bust" - are there systems where every "mission" is prefixed with the word "bust"? Like, bust biowaste deliveries, or something?

"Boom data". "Boom biowaste". Boom this, boom that.. Inf++ and rep++ (infuence and reputation? Not the sort i'm after, thanks)..

I think systems in bust offer majority of charity and donation missions... If a system is bust it means theres no in or exports, no trading, no income, so they ask for donations

AFAIK it has to do with the state of the system (or at least the state of the faction offering the mission).

Faction states have an influence on what missions (if any) are offered by a faction. Factions in "boom" states offer many more missions, and AFAIK the extra missions due to the economic boom are labeled "boom" in the title. It's not "Boom, here deliver it in 3 minutes", it is "Boom, we are rolling in money and we have some work we need you to do".

This is my understanding of it.

Edit: As far as the unique biowaste....the devs made mission goods "unique" because there used to be an exploit where people would take missions to ship X across the bubble. The player would then sell X that the mission giver gave them at the origin station. They would then go to the destination station (or a nearby station), replace X on the commodities market, and turn it in for the reward.

The reason for this was to avoid pirates, and this was not intended by the devs. Therefore, the cargo you haul for a mission AFAIK is always unique.

Boom is the status of the faction offering the mission, which is why these mission usually pay so well.
Biowaste missions are usually to a station orbiting an Earthlike world with an agricultural economy, so there is a little realism there. Quite why they pay so much, or require it to be unique I don't know.
Actually I do know why it has to be unique. I have read on the forums that there used to be an exploit where you could stack dozens of high paying long range missions, sell or dump the goods so you could get more missions and long range, jump to the destination system and buy new goods to deliver. (LOL - ninja'd)

I wish they would make the long range missions for commodities that make sense long range - rare goods for instance.

The Descriptions "Boom" etc just refer to the Faction State that triggered the mission.

Just as a faction in an election cycle will have election data to deliver, systems in lock down have security data to delivery, and so forth.

The Cargo isn't "Boom" anything, the mission be because we are in economic Boom, here is the cargo we would like you to deliver.

The Cargo is Unique, to avoid the situation were you took a mission to delivery 100 tons of cargo 50 light years away, promptly jettisoned the cargo, so it did not slow you down, and repurchased the same type of cargo closer to the destination.

Ah hah, got it, thanks for the explanations.

How horridly kludgey and awkward! Eugh. Back to FFE with its proper, rational, BBS, for me..

As for why it's so very important for you to ship those specific, particular biowaste canisters and not simply replace them with others:

They tell you it's biowaste. You believe them. Your ship scanners and even the cop's cargo scanners all think it really is biowaste. But you've never actually opened up one of the canisters to see what's in it for yourself, have you?

Somebody with something to hide, could hide it in a biowaste canister. Not even the cops would think of looking in there for it.

They're paying good money to hire a pilot who doesn't ask stupid questions, so stop asking them. Just shut up, do the job, and take their money. ;)

Oh, right, yes, of course.

Dammit, me and my big mouth. Carry on, absolutley none of my business. All mine goes overboard, anyway. No inf++ and rep++ but then i'm only spending a penny..
