GGGgrrrrr - I recalled you because I wanted you HERE!

Why when I recall my ship does it land 1.7km from me? Everyone else noticing this?

This is a recent (last two patches?) thing. And it's not because there is "no suitable terrain". I go get it and can land it right next to where I was. (msn site or POI) It used to land hundreds (<500 usually) of meters away from me. Not >1km.

You are stationary after you hit the recall button, right?
The ship recall target appears to be where you were when you hit recall, not where you are when it wakes in.

Overall, I've found it better from v2.1 - it will sometimes land within 200m of me now, whereas it never did before. Although it'll still often be 700km or so, but never > 1km for me.

yea, I'm usually at a POI and realize I'm going to need to off load cargo and call her back, then start popping sentinels from my vantage point. (and also where I'd just called my ship from)

And I used to have it appear 200-500m from my position. And you're right Goemon, its probably been that long (Horizons) since I've grimaced over this happening. I'm just now to the point of posting it to see if it's "a thing" or not.

I set some time aside to check out 3 or 4 "tip off" and I had and noticed large increase in "no suitable terrain" messages. What was odd is that the terrain the ship was attempting to land on was completely flat, no obstructions. This happened multiple times on several planets recently. Had a hell of a time just trying to get back into my ship and off planet.

i don't think it is recent. i experienced it since horizons.

Yep. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you don't. The worst ones are when you recall it, it lands 1.5km away and when you get there, you can't get aboard because it's landed in a stupid spot.. Then you have dismiss and recall again, only for it land 1.5km away again, but pretty much where you originally recalled it from.

I think it has something to do with how it searches for landable terrain, generally the rougher the surrounding terrain is, the more random and far-flung the recall location will be. And of course it counts you as an obstacle, so it'll ignore a nice flat landing spot if you happen to be sitting on it.

There should be a HUD marker activated when you recall ship - so you can select desired landing spot within your view. This would turn green when you've marked a spot with suitable terrain. Click it, and ship comes where you wanted it.

Give this man a medal.
