I made it back from the rim in one peice.

Ah tiredness and not concentrating yes this I can vouch for many a star has scorched me - no AFMU here though, currently just tootling up the Orion Spur (spending way to much time tumbling down cliffs!) I wonder if I ought have a rethink on the AFMU? would have to sacrifice second tank though? I have used my shields a few times on ship recall, so personally would not do without them!

Ohh - or do I just say Sod it? and go for it anyway?

Cheers for the insights.

It's hard to say. I've seen a commander reach Beagle and back with 100% hull (Cmdr Nagata) and nary a ding.
I think minimums shields protect against bumps and grazes that would whittle down a hull given time. I wouldn't give up my shields. Also I would never use an extra tank if I was heading Rimwards. Corewards is fine but Rimwards, you need every light year you can muster from your jump drive.

Well people, I finally made it back into the Bubble and have managed to calm down.
For those who don't know, I set off from the bubble on a one man crusade against the Engineers. I had tested them during 2.1 beta and found them... to avoid the wrath of the word filter... lacking...
I had initially just intended to cross the Formidine Rift and wait the impending disaster out, but instead, the trip took on a life of its own.

Setting out on the morning of the 11th of May, 3302, I said goodbye to Sol, perhaps even for the last time, and brimming with anticipation made my to Reorte to start my journey along the Reorte Riedquat line out to the Formidine Rift: Straight as an arrow, and full of pride and bravado.

One week later, I was there. Staring into the Formidine Rift. In silence.
From the vantagepoint of my spartan, minimalist Lakon cockpit, it really wasn't much to look at at all. And as is the way with legends, it didn't live up to the hype and it certainly didn't seem to be the dreaded construct of fear that its name, derived from that ancient Earth language Latin, suggested.

Formidolosus: Formidable, fearful, awful, tremendous.

Laughing at my earlier trepidation, I took my Asp across the invisible boundary and into the Rift.

To Be Continued.

(applause) spent 3 weeks in the Rift and am struggling to get the will to go back. How you did a circuit I just can't fathom!

Big salute to you sir!
Did you play other games in between to keep your sanity?

~S~

I played a few hours of NMS when it came out (I was a backer of that, too) but found honksploration in ED was more satisfying after jumping to my third, life-filled and so-obviously-random-as-to-be-meaningless system in NMS. I think that says a lot about NMS right there.

But that was it; the rest was just jumping honking and every 8th system or so, scooping. At least I had an A6 scoop.
I mentioned it earlier, but I don't think I'll be doing it again. Even if I do reset my commander in the future or purchase another account.

Seriously impressive OP. Would love to try this but can't commit enough time to the game. How many hours did you put in a day, on average?

Cheers - Smeg

Average of about 80-90 jumps a day since 11th of May, however, the last day I made about 450 jumps to get to the Morai CG.
That's about 90 mins to 2 hours play per day. Assuming that on average it takes between 45s And 2 minutes per system.

o7 Commander ..... a feat I shall never achieve (the return to Jaques is bad enough for me !) ..... it must have felt strange approaching the station for the first time in eons .... and all the space chatter :)

Thank you. As expected the Modular Terminals are proving to be the bottleneck.

I have never seen a commodity that can't actually be purchased before, but then, such lapses in logic are FDEV's bread and butter.
;-)

I can see what they we're going for by not just having everything for sale but it is odd.

In general, I think there should be at least two different ways to obtain each material or commodity and some of those need a rethink.
e.g. what's the point of having Mining Missions as the only alternate way to get mining commodities?

o7

*looking for words to describe this endeavor, but too busy picking my jaw up from the ground*

Only 1 word needed:

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong

But cheers for the fab compliment!

Agreed on the multiple path. Much less chance of rolling two critical failures ;-)

You said that to me the other time!!! Am I boring? (O_O"?

I'm glad you get back safety! Now come to Sirius OK?!

Arisa, It's 2am! you have school tomorrow! ;-)
Actually. I am around Sirius area because I'm trying to unlock that Marcus chap...

He's a complete and utter Qwent!

You don't happen to have any Modular Terminals on you, do you?

I swear I'm not trying to hit on you ;-)
