No excuse. We need commodity storage quickly.

They should be entangled storage containers, put stuff in anywhere, take it out anywhere. [hotas]

I was thinking along these lines as well..
There's a few games that use this idea.. a bank or vault in a village thats accessible from any other village with a bank or vault..

maybe devs could put storage facilties at the same locations as the engineers?

have some rep {SAS}Stalker 07 :D

I'm hoping they'll allow that storage to happen at every starport that supports large pads. Focusing those 'banks' in only two or three stations will have every single commander in game move their 'home base' to those systems.

i totally understand the problem, but still am against storage. last thing i want is another         inventory. just reduce the absurd diversity of collectibles, or better yet increase the ship slot size to ... dunno, infinite?

At least now we can keep cargo until we're killed, I've "stored" 3 units of Praseodymium that I mined, by putting it in ships I've bought or swapped out of storage, before I always had to sell the cargo before buying/exchanging/selling ships, which would've been a nightmare when getting engineers to work on a fleet.

Modulestorage has been announced for 2.2. Has anyone heard from commodities storage coming to 2.2?

Instant ship transfer will be part of 2.2. Yeah cool, I can transfer ships to my location, but I can't enter any of them, because my cargo hold of my current ship is full of essential commodities that I need for my next upgrades... awesome...
Come on, Frontier must have some solution for this...

Commodity storage has not been mentioned for 2.2 and was notably absent at the Gamescom talks so I reckon it's a non runner for 2.2.

Theres a pretty good excuse. Time. These things take time to make I guarantee you its on their to-do list. If it bothers you so much apply for a job and do it for them frontier is hiring. Whats your excuse?

Well yes but...this should have been a release feature for 2.1. Missing it from 2.1, let alone 2.2, was a colossal balls-up of the greatest kind, given the commodity-driven nature of 2.1.

And now somehow...somehow...some bright spark over at FD sat down one morning and what I can only assume this conversation happened:

"So the forumites are going to garrote us if we don't fix this storage issue"

"Yup, that we do. And I have just the idea"

"Great! What'd that be then?"

"Teleporting spaceships"

"You what now?

"Yup, teleporting spaceships"

"But...that isn't what they asked for?!"

"Teleporting spaceships. They get one of their spaceships to a station, hit a button, poof! Another of their spaceships magically appears on top of their docked one"

"They still aren't securing their goods. And they still can't actually get in to this other ship unless they clear some room fi-"

"Teleporting spaceships"

"But...all they wanted was somewhere to put the commodities saf-"

"Teleporting spaceships".

ED is the only game on the market which has loot and does not have storage. If you think it is to prevent "Hording", I am sorry but your stupid. Or if you think Hoarding would be a result, Your stupid. If ED thinks this is the case... Then they mine as well sell the game to someone because ED truly does not have a future as that is one of the most unrealistic, incompetent thing's a Developer could ever say concerning an MMORPG which has loot, and has specific elements in game which require a large quantity of such items. The only realistic way of which you would have them conveniently, would be "Storage".

Also.... Your telling me we have pulse lasers, and FSD drives, and cargo bays....... But no one in the entire Universe figured out how to make a storage crate for stations? Talk about breaking immersion.

Also.. Why the hell do YOU care what someone else does in "their" game? Most of us play in private groups or Solo anyway. If someone wants to Hoard items, Why do you care? Your never going to see them or interact with them.

Day 4 of Gamescom after the Module Storage was announced a question was asked in chat about Commodity Storage and Sandy said there will be no commodity storage due to "exploitation" possibilities.

But, he did not dismiss the idea totally and said that they will work on something so that you can store your Engineer commodities at Engineer bases.

I like the idea. Every engineer has their commodities and few are multipurpose but if this feature would be in 2.2 I would be very happy.

If you want, you can go and view the VOD and see for yourself. Might need a bit of video searching but it is Day 4.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. My Adder isn't able to carry more than 16t at a time, making it nigh in impossible to either (i) take missions to get more commodities or (ii) stack up enough for a decent run at the RNGineers.

I disagree.

Encouragement to equip cargo racks is a good thing. A little extra risk in death is a good thing. Having us fly around more often with a little bit of cargo, as pirate bait, is a good thing.

If you can't use the items now, sell them. It's not too hard to find them, or missions that reward them, later. FD should not encourage hoarding and stockpiling.

+1 rep for being argumentative.

P.S. I lied about the rep.

This not being in 2.2 is a big reason for me not to play this game until this is fixed... Engineers gameplay conflicts heavily with bounty hunting gameplay. I was always happy to find a hazardous extraction site where I could spend the next two hours killing dangerous pirates, now I can't do that because having commodities inside your cargo hold in a hazardous RES or Navbeacon is a death sentence.
I once sold commodities I got from several missions because I wanted to bounty hunt. It turned out later, that I needed them for an upgrade...

I really don't want to wait another five months, I finally want to play this game.

Sandy said there will be no commodity storage due to "exploitation" possibilities.

It could be used to drastically change prices of commodities by buying a massive amount and storing it away somewhere unaccessable.

Come on there must be some solution to this...

Day 4 of Gamescom after the Module Storage was announced a question was asked in chat about Commodity Storage and Sandy said there will be no commodity storage due to "exploitation" possibilities.

Now for Sandy to say such a thing while trying to justify magic ship transfer means someone is loosing their marbles, it defies logic on so many fronts.

It'll probably be implemented sooner or later. Just like you I'm very annoyed by being attacked by an NPC eagle who noticed I have 1 unit of some worthless material in my cargohold which I need for an engineers upgrade but forgot about.

It just takes a few hits to bring it down but seriously, risking your life against a Corvette for 1 unit of worthless material? NPC's still aren't the brightest. It's also very irritating when I'm already fighting an Anaconda and 3 Federal Gunships decide to jump in because of that 1 unit.

How would that affect market price as massively as stated? Isn´t market fluctuation limited so it has only a minor impact on profit made?

Day 4 of Gamescom after the Module Storage was announced a question was asked in chat about Commodity Storage and Sandy said there will be no commodity storage due to "exploitation" possibilities.

What? How? That doesn't make sense - if FD can't get storage secure and not open to exploit then how's it going to work for modules?

In other words how can they be able to make storage of modules secure but can't do it for commodities.

As posted many times before - make engineering commodities not available on the market into materials.

Currently, the game is broken - several aspects of the game just don't work; ships with small cargo bays are not viable for anyone doing engineering, compromised nav beacons (CNB) are impossible for anyone doing engineering.

I'm about to have to dump 50+ tons of engineering mission rewards it's taken weeks to grind, that are mission only rewards - so I can go into a CNB to grind the other materials I need for engineering. Not game breaking but very frustrating.

16:15 Day 0 Commodity Storage introduced
.
16:15 Day 1 316 Page thread complaining that they have commodities spread out all over the galaxies in 1T and 2T drops and don't want to go back to all the stations to collect it and DEMAND that any commodity should be sold anywhere for the maximum profit anywhere they have anything stored.

16:15 Day 3 Start of 666 page thread on how unfair it is that some commanders can just fill up a Cargo Cutter with rare goods X from their storage bought at a market record low price, and then sell it for an obscene profit as soon as the market reaches a record high price, because all the rare goods are in peoples storage not being traded.

You could limit that by having your commodity storage checked server side before you can hoard more rares ( it would be a hilarious exploit though).
