FDev, I demand...

It's probably on your to-do list but I demand that you act now: Please launch your own low orbit satellite system to put away with those Internet latency and instancing issues once and for all!

Musk and Samsung are taking too long and I have lost confidence in SpaceX after the recent setback. Someone has to step up and it's only fitting that a space sim game is accompanied by its own low-latency Internet infrastructure in space. A few thousand satellites should do.

I'd be happy to provide financial backing by buying a paint job once the first satellite is in orbit and I know another commander who might do the same. There! No more excuses, no further delay!

Thanks for listening and I'm looking forward to seeing your launch schedule in the near future.

We didn't have any demands for a while...

They can't as the player base would only complain that it was the wrong colour/did things too quickly/did things to slowly/was too easy/was too hard/etc/etc

Who gets to fly the rockets up? I've played kerbal space program so it shouldn't be too difficult :D might need a few attempts but we'll get there...

I think FD have their own headaches with their launch schedule already. They must be scavenging for materials...
2.2 has all but halted for the lack of four (4) USB extension cables. They have the other required mats, but they have been checking every job board and slaughtering bicycle couriers by the hundreds and haven't been lucky with a drop yet. There is a rumor they can be purchased at OfficeMax but only in certain boroughs. Maybe they can look one up on Thrudd's...

Sadly, physics :(

Communicating via a relay in geosynchronous orbit adds at least around 233ms latency since you have to get a signal 35+Mm up and then back down at least the same distance.

I know this is a joke but paying for servers and client-server architecture would be the better, cheaper solution.

I'm demanding low earth orbit satellites at an altitude of one hundredth of the geostationary orbit, so maybe 360 km up instead of 36,000 km. Ping times below 50 ms or better should be a achievable globally.

They'd be plenty of problems of course, but one day maybe we'll look back and laugh at the Intenet in it's infancy today. The laughing part probably comes right before AI becomes self-aware and the Internet-of-Things takes over the world. :D
