I played CQC and it was awesome

Yep. For the first time ever I hit the 'Arena' item on the launcher menu last night and..

Found a match within seconds (9pm GMT)
Had a great time. It's really liberating to die and not care a jot.

I even got a couple of kills in between being killed every 90 seconds. Fun.

That is all.

I like CQC quite a lot.

But i usually have to wait 5+ minutes for matchmaking...

Also flying with a friend (squadron) is a joke.. No possibility to comunicate with ingame tools... This needs polishing

The last 3 times I have tried to play, after waiting 10 minutes for matchmaking I give up everytime.

I've tried to play a few times lately, haven't had any luck finding games though. Hopefully on Thursday evening that'll be different.

I know I got lucky with the matchmaking - and it could REALLY use some comms tools / chat..
But fundamentally it's really good fun, and a great way to play against other CMDR's without losing the farm (or worse Modular Terminals).

6-9 EST is usually a good time to try, there are usually quite a few people on at that time including myself. Expect to be completely obliterated though, we have some really players on at that time.

Spent 15 minutes waiting on a match the last time I "played" cqc. It's a great little mode but without AI, it's more frustrating than fun.

It is good, playing death match, semi regular and not having any matchmaking issues.

I prefer the F63 to the imperial fighter but I think the Imperial fighter has more potential for a talented FA off player, it's got a real Tie Fighter feel about it and if you can control the over correction can be a real handful to keep a lock on.

I actually can't wait until I can build my T9 Pirate ship with fighter assist!

CQC is a nice little game, yes. Been awhile since I played but it was very fun when I dabbled in it. As you say, OP, it's cool when you don't have to worry about getting creamed. :)

My experience as well. Got in a game in the first minute or so the very first time I tried it. Tried it a few more times with no luck finding any matches after 5-10 minutes of waiting -- even tried different modes.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but it would be great if CQC was integrated into game -- a menu option at a station for example. Had an AI opponent option -- perhaps that mode doesn't add to your CQC ranking. Also, would be good to be able to use your in-game ships and select the type of AI opponent -- there is currently no way to "test" your setup outside of going outside and mixing it up.

I was thinking if FD do cave and add timers to ship transfers they should add a big fat CQC button on the same screen. I'd love to pop into a deathmatch to kill the 10 minutes wait for my ship to arrive and for Frontier it would be a good way of actually linking CQC to the main game and getting people playing. Maybe they could concoct some lore reason like the ship transfers and arena competitions are owned by the same umbrella company and you can take part in CQC to pay for your transfer or something.

Like that idea. Not convinced they will cave to a wait time for transfer though.
