Engineers Reinforced Mounting Plates : Big Ship Warning

Just loaded up my Conda to do a big Engineering run.
Last item on my shopping list is Reinforced Mounting Plates.
THEN I discover that you can only get them from M landing platforms, not a single large station in the bubble stocks them

Well I dont have a Med ship with enough cargo space to swap. I'm knackered.

Its just stupid.

Just a warning.

That's a bit poorly thought out. Although you can still get them from missions. I've got 12 from doing just 3 missions.

Only poorly thought out if you know such a ridiculous thing as "small platforms only" exists.

The only thing I can think of in real life that you can only buy from small shops, is single s.

I agree. Run delivery missions, even in an Anaconda and they just show up in your cargo. I keep selling them in the commodities market to free up cargo space because I am not grinding Engineers at the moment but thanks for the heads-up! [up]

Its not as big issue: dock, buy some cheap ship with cargo close to place where can be purchased Reinforced Mounting Plates, buy it and return to place where you have your conda. In case there will be some troublemaker NPC announcing his interest for your cargo (while you are in defenceless "supply" ship) use small trick: go close to sun, slow down on minimum SC speed and turn your ship from the start. "Pirating" NPC will end in this star and you can safely deliver cargo to your conda.

EDIT: thx for tips about station with large pad ... will give it a try and check it. +rep given.

yes. but i wouldn't be sure about that without checking grassmann station ingame. eddb.io relies on info given either via (unprecise) ocr tools or EDMC (Elite: Dangerous Market Connector) - it would need only a minor mistake somewhere to put supply to zero.

from the galaxy map i can see no reason, why Reinforced Mounting Plates shouldn't be on supply there anymoe.

You're right it does show a supply of zero as of 10 hours ago. But in theory it should get some more in, that seems to be how these things work.

It's still rather ridiculous if only 1 station that has a large pad sells them, though. Even worse if it doesn't always have them.

I was curious so I went out there. Grassman station currently has a supply of 19. I sent the data to eddb, so it should show that now.

I guess if someone does a scrape AFTER they have bought them (thats probably the reason they went there in the 1st place), then the Supply in eddb will often be 0.

Grassman is where I always go for my plates. Their supply gets kinda low sometimes, but I haven't been outright turned away, yet.

The only other option is to buy a new medium ship that has enough cargo space by default that you can swap to. Not a cheap or elegant option though.
