Engineers Incoming mission critical message timer = 00:00 = stupid!

Can FD please remove these stupid messages we get when delivering items that says incoming mission critical message that offers a sum of incentive cash to deliver faster BUT gives us 00:00 time to achieve it. Then we get a crappy second message telling us we are useless but continue the mission anyway.

I think these are automated messages - but depends on the time from selecting the mission to jumping to the sector it relates to - I did a number of 24hr missions - and waiting 12 hrs before doing them (no rush) and got all 4 missions (held over) reporting a mission critical update with 0:00 left, however the mission I collected immediately before exiting the station had a 15min rush on it - the mission was 200K credits with 10K extra - not really worth it.

So I think it could (imho) relate to the time from when you accept the mission - but possibly these should mission critical alerts should expire silently if at 0:00?

+1 and totally agree!

I'd rather FD just turned them off. I really hate the ones that show up when you get to the station. I've had the massage pop up just as I'm docking at an outpost. Dang thing freaked me out! That is particularly annoying! And if FD doesn't feel like removing them, at least move the pop up message to the top of the HUD, and not square in the middle.

I agree the 0:00 bugged ones are daft but the basic system does work, I've had quite reasonable time incentives from sun to port (eg 8mins for one 50ls away, 31mins for one 80,000ls away.

If this goes the same way as the bugged 2.0 npcs (ramscans etc) it'll presumably get fixed in 2.2. Doesn't seem to make much difference to the mission completion (compared to one where no incentive was offered) so I just don't bother to read any mission critical updates now and assume I'm about to be insta-dicted.

You are absolutely right, they are useless. It's just not logic. Isn't it even reducing your reputation a bit with the faction you have your mission from?
But I prefer those messages to "Deliever the stuff to system XY" - 5 meters before touchdown at the original dock...

I want to see two things

1.- If they keep the current times, then they need to show how many seconds it is. Because the timer could actually be 00:00:30 or it could be at 00:00:59

2.- Bigger extra rewards. I'm not going to bother trying for an extra 25,000-75,000 when my mission already pays 8+ million.
(Doesn't have to be credits only, materials/data could be nice too)

As it is right now, I completely ignore these critical messages.

Nope... It's nothing to do with the time of selecting the mission to completing it, I've had quite a few that had the buggy 0:00 time to complete the 'rush' mission and all were missions that I had just taken. It's simply a bug, been in the game since the 2.1 beta, and really should have been removed (or fixed) by now.

Totally agree - really annoying. And I suspect that it doesn't need a client update to fix - I'm sure issues of this nature have been fixed in the past on the server side during normal maintenance window.

I think the mission timers are just completely borked. They seem to be calculated on the distance from your target, the further away you are when you receive the message the more time you get.
This means when I receive the message when I arrive at the sun in the target system I often get timers of like 30-40 min, which is ridiculously long.
However if I get the message when I drop out of supercruise at the target station I' am too close to the target and get a timer of 0:00, and the objective fails immediately (like 10s after).

LOL yours win! I have received bonus for faster delivery in 00:05, but never 00:00! :)

I like the idea of a speed docking challenge. But in most cases it is impossible, because the timer is around 15 seconds at 7km distance from the port. Also, it would be very helpful if the remaining time would be displayed in the HUD as a countdown. These 0:00 messages are not very helpful and rather annoying (also because you lose seconds just to open them).

To sum up, the 0H 0M timer issue is caused by distance, not mission time. You can get mission update when you drop out of SC, and the amount of time you get is based on how close you are to your destination.

When you drop into a station that can generate mission updates. Because you're at the station, the time it scales to is 0H 0M....distance wise, you are literally on it.

If mission stacking you can choose to drop into the system, drop out of SC, go back into SC and repeat a couple of times before you head over to the destination. It should generate several mission updates, with a high timer because you were far from your destination when you did them.

Even without the 0:00 bug, the 'mission critical' messages are useless. At the point they show up you are either on the way to the station and already in the same system, or you are already at the station. Either way there's nothing you can do to change when you arrive. Even if you could the rewards are too small to matter. So the end result is nothing. These messages do not result in any player decisions, so they are pointless.

In my experience most messages pop up at system level with a decent time to go, ~10 minutes++. That's a guaranteed bonus, i like it. But the WORST scenarios are when you are redirected to a station 400k ls from the drop point!

Those update pings give me a quick twinge of anxiety as I now usually expect to be instantly interdicted shortly afterwards. It's like some horrible Pavlovian response; I hear the message ping and now expect to be instantly punished.

Don't waste breath and stress trying to earn bonuses. Major bug. Even worse when stacking missions "ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding" etc. I ignore messages about bonuses. They all go the same way: Get the cargo here sooner and earn a reward but, rush to your destination and on exiting supercruise you will receive the message(s) "we changed our mind, you have zero minutes to deliver" followed a few seconds later by "We thought you were better than that, no bonus for you." Who are these people . . . Darth Vader? ("I am altering the deal . . . pray I don't alter it again.") I have boosted into stations in well under a minute from exiting supercruise and still receive bonus-fail messages even when inside the station even as I am landing on the pad.

The way it should work, and would work in a finished product is that a once a bonus offer is made the goal cannot be changed or rescinded, the bonus amount can not be lowered. Additional bonuses can be offered for even faster delivery but ANY and ALL mission bonuses offered where the conditions of that bonus were met must be paid even if an additional bonus was offered for even faster service which was not earned.

Offering bonuses, then moving the targets, THEN rescinding the bonuses CONSTANTLY, over and over and over is a path towards frustration and rage-quitting.

and all the little message pings are distracting . . .

I think it's based on distance and it was created with being in supercruise in mind.
So, for instance if it's 2 minutes per 1ls then you've got enough time to get to station and dock. If the same algorithm is applied to 10km distance then you've got about... 0.04 sec.
