So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

I don't remember her going around plotting to kill anyone in the book. She did not have the nicest past but I never seen her as the murdering or plotting to assassinate type. I think something else is going on. She is being framed to legitimise her abduction to keep something quiet.

That is the problem. Just how much do we count against Salome because of Kahina's past. Lots of "rebirth" lore going on and me too tired just right now to go into it. Loren=bad. Salome? Jury still out.

Someone posted an "odd" order of planets/stars a page or two ago - and here's one that pretty much matches that. Not saying its odd, it appears totally legit. Just wanted to point out the stars are T Tauris and big ol' blue is a B class. There are some unique orders out here, but I don't think they are a clear indication of something UNLESS they match a pattern like the comma/period stuff from the Good Luck and Right On Commander or other statements. However, I think we are looking for something larger than a single solar system.

Best of luck everyone! I'm still trying to get the whole anomaly thing sorted and there are results but far from anything conclusive or indicative of an actual intention behind them. I posted in the Bug forum, posted my videos, even requested a followup if it was actually intended or a bug with no response. So, going with the lead I have now but I'll be sure to update should it prove to be a dead end.

Keep your eyes open - if we are looking for something that's been here since Gamma it must be something fairly simple but most likely a decent size... perhaps an uncharted nebula or something that is only visible close to in/near "The Rift."

Perhaps we should be 3D plotting all these 'odd' systems & looking for patterns? EDD might be good basis

In Reclamation Kahina fought for what was hers, & she fought a sword duel for revenge on her familiy's murderer- I don't think murder/assassination is in character for either Kahina or Salome

I see Salome as her 'underworld' personality that had to shed her veils to get in.

The rebirth is the return of Kahina, in all her cold blooded glory.

hiya. This isn't my usual field of study, but I was fascinated by the "Salomé discovered something between Tionisla and Cemiess" speech, so I thought I'd have a look. After visiting around 30 systems (and the docks therein), it occured to me: The Cobra was put into Tionisla graveyard on 5th August. Salome was taken on 23rd August. That is a *long* time. She could have gone twice around the bubble and out to Barnards and back in that time. So is it literally "between Tionisla and Cemeiss" or "in the time between Tionisla and Cemeiss"?

My guess is it's between the two systems, but everyone seems to be going with the timeline thing.. I certainly may have missed something.

I would take it as "sometime in between her visit to Tionisla and her visit to Cemeiss". If it's a geographic hint it's we aren't going to get very far with it.

Well if it's a time hint, we're out of luck at its even less informative than a geographic one.

I checked a dozen station between Tionisla and Cemiess : No Luck.
The only remarkable thing with regard of this strech of space is the HR4413 permit locked system. Nothing else really stand out there.

on the other hand: the Cobra was put into Tionsila, where is started transmitting its message. Salome could have flown out to Heart and Soul, found something that tied together all these things, and flown back in those three weeks. Which doesn't help, cos ESFOTS sector is huggge. What *may* help is, why was she going back to Cemeiss with the information? Why didn't she go to the Children of Raxxla? Or just land on the nearest station and post it on Galnet?

Dunno, even if that information is correct, it's still a grain of sand on a beach. Much like everything else in these mysteries.

If the statement about something having happened "between Tionisla and Cemiess" IS in fact a reference to something happening between the time of the EAFOTS broadcast in Tionisla and Salome's abduction in Cemiess then I suspect the answer is in Galnet. Maybe there is a Galnet article that we missed? Something that appeared unrelated but is, in fact, crucial?

What we've seen recently on Galnet has brought the Rift mystery to the same level of public awareness as the Barnacles, whilst providing background information previously only available outside the game. It's also brought Kahina/Salome back to the 'missing' state she was in when the Galnet articles dried up last year.

Remember, Drew has been tasked with pulling together all the disparate threads (Powerplay, Barnacles, Rift, etc) into a coherent narrative.
Consequently, to me, this announcement is simply publicizing that process in game, rather than providing a 'go here and search' instruction.

I do wonder whether these things were all originally intended to be connected, or whether there's a certain amount of retconning going on.

Remember, the Rift mystery could've been solved at any time since release, but everything else relies on stuff that would be released much later.

not only the rift, in lots of interviews since launch they've said there are things and missions we haven't found yet. The crashed alien ship has been there since horizons (probably).

On the subject of seeing things after a long while in the rift, as I made a trip up to EAFOTS BA-A G0 to take a look at the black hole, I turned to have a look back towards the cosmos below.

I'm sure that other visitors to the area have remarked on this phenomenon before me, but from certain angles, the Heart and Soul nebulae have a habit of looking like something you wouldn't want to meet on a dark night.

You may also note that the Heart Nebula, the leftmost red gaseous object, looks rather like a supposedly fictional creature that has haunted the dreams of man since around the year 1979.

Looking back, I wish that I'd manoeuvred the Compass Rose a little further over; I could have tried to make the gravitational lensing affect the Heart Nebula, instead of the Milky Way.

Perhaps some great reveal would have been made to mankind, such as those that occur when the Stars are Right?

On the other hand, perhaps I really am losing it.

Even if she was doing short jumps & scanning every body found?

Had a quick look through the archive http://ed.frank-heinrich.net/index.php?title=Galnet_Archive:
12 Aug: Thargoids article;
"We're seeing poor revenue forecasts for a wide range of corporations, including big names like Sirius, Gutamaya and Core Dynamics," said a correspondent for the Galactic Finance Times. "They should be concentrating on marketing to leverage new product ranges, but instead they're diverting resources into intensive research and development. They're ignoring the traditional sales cycle, and we don't know why. It's perplexing." ...mention of the London Treaty & "possibly lucrative venture is a start-up called MetaDrive Inc.,"
Fight for Pleiades Sector IH-V C2-16
Couple of attacks on Salome/Kahina
bit about Jaques
19th: bit about the Generation ships
Assassination attempt on Patreus
23rd Salome hijacked by Imperial forces
plus a couple of weekly expansion/economic/conflict reports

so can't see anything that really stands out...unless its the bit about Sirius etc diverting resources into intensive research. Maybe some local news reports around Sirius/Procyon/etc to expand on that?
