Hi Sandro.

At first I was completely opposed to the idea of instant ship transfer, but thinking about it, we already get instant cargo loading, refuelling, repairs, rebuys, etc. so with all that already in the game, the idea of instant ship transfer seems fair enough.

The one thing I'd like to see is a maximum range. Moving ships anywhere within the bubble or within bubble 2.0 seems fair enough but moving them instantly between the bubble and bubble 2.0 still seems wrong to me.

Hello Commander Javert!

Although we might impose limits, theoretically very long distances could be traversed by bulk freighters, so, yes, traveling to Jaques would be possible, with an extremely long delivery time.

But assuming it scales linearly, that would be quite the wait. 300LY=100 minutes, 22000LY=122 hours. :)

Hello Commander CMDR Pugwash!

The delivery time would be a minimum of around five minutes, representing basic logistics of getting your ship loaded into a bulk carrier, followed by an additional time cost per light year to be travelled. The ballpark we are looking at would mean a delay of around 100 minutes if you transfered a ship from one edge of human space to the other (around 300 light years).

bulk carrier? sorry, I dont want to be the proverbial pain in the    , but, why dont just hire pilots to deliver it?

who seem to really love spending 10 or 20 minutes at a time with the throttle pushed all the way forward doing nothing else

Actually I make those journeys at 50-75% throttle, same as all the other ships in the shipping lane. That is my 'fun gameplay' because it requires me to fly my ship and allows me to appreciate being a space pilot. I bought ED for the sim aspect.

This is sad.

This just goes to show that frontier has no spine.

We're not even into beta yet and Frontier has already caved to the vocal minority.

Good job.
If it's the minority that want the change, then they'll lose the poll, and nothing will change. So what's the worry?
I fail to see how offering options to their customers equates to being spineless.

Personally I think this is an excellent idea. It means that we can move ships around relatively easily for something like moving a home base or consolidating a fleet, but makes it more difficult to just ship your Cutter to the site of a CG instantly. It means that people will have to think and plan their ship movements, but would it be asking too much to allow us to get ships sent to somewhere else, so that if we were planning on going mining (for example) we could have a Python shipped to that station whilst we finished the trading runs we're working on, before flying out there ourselves and taking control of the Python? Same mechanic (essentially), just again allowing for an element of forward planning.

I have a question for those that think it shouldn't be instant: What would non-instant ship transfer add to the gameplay that instant transfer doesn't? Would you seriously be ok with halting game sessions for literally no other reason than "immersion"?
You should have the right ship in the right place: E.G. where you are at present and what you intended to do at said location. So what reason do you need another ship, at said location? The reason would be a form of 'up-grade' or a better ship for the job. Right now we have the option, to buy and fit a better ship, for the task, in hand, if we feel that our current ship in not up to the task ahead. As with all things, within this game, a small amount of planing is required and 'instant transfer', would only pander to the lazy or complacent.

I voted for the transfer time penalty.

LOL..

"Requires me to fly my ship"

1: Point at destination.
2: 50% throttle.
3: Wait 15 minutes.
4: Make corrections, throttle back.

Soooooo much fun.

Thank you Sandro (and FD as a whole) for listening.
I swear I won't call you Sandro 'Mandrake' Marco any more :p

Will vote now !

What about the players that don't use the forums? They do exist and without having any stats on hand I would hazard to guess they are actually the crushing majority. How can a voluntary poll coming from the forums really reflect what players want?

Originally I was more in for the instant transfer. However, now that I can see the timings FD is managing for this feature (5 to 100 minutes within the bubble) I find it reasonable to place a delay depending on how far away you are.

That should not be a great deal. Let's say you summon a ship to Jackes. Well, summon it, pay the price and go to sleep, as it will take several hours to arrive! I think it sounds a good way of implementing this.

what about an official poll about RNGineer remove ? gameplay break isn't more important to be resolved first ?

I voted instant. I don't think that is perfect, but 100 minutes is too dang long. You can do it in person faster than that.

I'd rather see a cooldown after the transfer than a front-loaded wait, no matter how long it is.

The 100 minute wait might be ok, might - if you can transfer to/from a station where you are not present. Like - I want to do some mining here in a couple hours, so let me start the transfer now while I'm off doing some bounty hunting elsewhere.

If you're looking for a wow analogy, teleportation is NOT the correct one to use. It's more like being able to summon a bank teller. All you're doing is getting your equipment (or ship, in this case) out of storage so you can use it. That was a HUGE quality of life improvement in WoW and don't try to tell me it wasn't. Instead of having to hearth back to the main hub city to get your tanking gear or your DPS gear you could just get it while you were in the field.

STOP TRYING TO EQUATE TEDIUM WITH GAMEPLAY OR CHALLENGE.
