***POLL NOW CLOSED*** IMPORTANT, OFFICIAL SHIP TRANSFER POLL

You can't understand ED is even with the solo part , a multiplayer game, and not using this feature if it exist, make you less effective than others...

They do seem to conveniently forget that ED is multi player only and that everything they do affects the game for the entire player base when they make suggestions like that

After careful consideration:

Option 2 - one should never undermine the size of the Galaxy, there has always been a strong realism influence behind everything in this game, in my opinion it is very important to stick to that. At the end of the day, it's the realism and science that keeps the long term crowd in this game.

I would love instant, subject to the constraint that all the parts of your ship are available at the target station or maybe in the target system+some transfer cost, or you have an option to swap your ship for inferior parts+money back. Effectively, your spare ships are virtual investment which you carry with you, and it allows you to reassemble your spare ship at your current station in an instant, while your old ship is disassembled at the same time and added to your virtual account.

If the ship and modules are available at your current location, how is this different than using the remote sell feature that is planned to be implemented as well?

Basically, what you're suggesting will already be an option, as far as I can tell.

- Voted for instant transfer -

I know it sounds like Space Magic but i think it will enhance the gameplay especially for people that haven't that much time to play Elite every day. Probably it will also encourage players to join different type of CG.

Being able to order delivery to any station would be the best way to handle it in my opinion. I've mentioned this already in this thread and so have several others

Opens up issues IMHO. You'll feel pressured into repeatedly sending ships ahead, just incase you need them... Which will get tiresome...

It also makes the interface that more complicated too IMHO.

I'd say get pull working... and work from there first...

Unfortunatly, that0s not depend by insta trasfer.
The only thing gives you insta trasfer is 30 minutes less than boring travel.

Apart that, you can still undermine with your corvette of 12 ly jump...

This is possible with the delayed transfer option anyway (and has come up multiple times already). The original announcement and demo showed the ability to remote-sell your ship as well as transfer it, and that would logically remain instant. Therefore, you can sell your existing ship to get the credits and rebuild it locally without any delay - and probably cheaper than transfer if they get the cost balance right.

The ability to store a 'loadout profile' that you could use to sell/buy multiple modules at once (subject to availability) would be handy to save manually selecting each separately, but that's a refinement for the future and doesn't affect the principle.

I have a question to all those people who now say "I only hav 120min to play, if I lose 100min waiting there will only be 20min of playtime left."

What have you been doing until now? It's not like there's instant ship transfer in the game right now.

Just because it's not been in the game already doesn't mean that trundling back and forth just to move ships about is fun.

A good question is, who will buy future expensions ? All borred guys wanting instant All, or fans liking ED concept and actively playing it ? Turn ED to arcade, and you'll lose passionate players wanting playing this game for years... But it's true you'll gain some casuals players, but how many time they'll stay in ED before switching for the next AAA game ?

I think that depends on the direction the game takes after this poll. I think it was Ant who mentioned that introducing something like instant-transfer will have far-reaching implications for the rest of the game in years to come.

why do you feel the need to say this, even if it's not true?! because it's convenient, i know. but tell me, then, why does your escape pod arrive instantly at the last station you docked? it should take as long as the ship transfer, IF you prefer time for the transfer. loading/unloading cargo should take a considerable amount of time, too. as should refuelling, repairing and outfitting. i don't understand how one can approve of travel time for ship transfer, but be ok with instant arrival of escape pods.

at least don't talk about "realism" or "immersion" as your pro-reasons for time needed when recalling a ship, because it's not really what it is. i don't know what it is besides "inconvenient".

Ship blueprints... Sounds kind of cool. Then again, that's what Coriolis is for... ;) But yeah, I wouldn't mind ship blueprints.

Hi Sandro,

.....

For the record I voted delay, I would be against anything excessive but I do feel instant transfer is a leap too far with suspension of disbelief. Its divisive though what ever you do will be wrong, just wanted to say good luck, we're all counting on you.

LOL! no pressure!

Mr. Ant has a louder and more compelling voice at least. ;)

But yeah, I agree that there are several potential game play and design ramification surrounding this feature that speak of the direction this game is going toward.

Another debate : cargo loading mechanic. I'd like it, I don't demand it.

Different, to be sure, but quite related with the slow approach of space legs. I just wanted to know if you were consistent in your desire to be pulled away from the joy of actually flying a ship to deal with logistical concerns via some wonky mechanic. At the very least, you are that. *shrug*
