Is it possible to have more than one character in the game?

Would be nice to play different roles in elite. I want an extra char to only use as a pirate, and see if i can work my way up in elite purely on piracy... Do i need to buy another copy of the game or... Not really feel like clean my save and start over if things goes wrong in my new chareer:p

At the moment you do have to buy another CMDR.
Wait until there is a sale on to get about 25% off.
Buy it from the Frontier store.

Ok, thanks guys, seems like i will have to buy double of all seasons:p(dont mind it, ill happily support frontier for making this awsome game). But do i need to separate installs, or can i use the same install, just logging in with a different account?(sorry for the stupid question)

No need to download elite twice

I think you can do either.

Two installs eg one through steam, one through the Frontier Store and each can be logged into independently.

One install - enter different details at login.

You can also install the Frontier Store version twice and log on to both, you just need to close the launcher for the 1st before for starting it for the 2nd.
